Holy shit, Albert Pujols is a God.

And I love Dontrelle Willis. He's saved my fantasy team this year after injuries to Burnett, and Driefort, and a putrid season from Clement (yes...my staff was horrible to begin with)

i take sheffield over pujols right now

Who has the better shot at the triple crown? I'd have to say Pujols.

- Arpikarhu - 06-24-2003

sheffield

- GonzoStyle - 06-28-2003

as of today

homers, rbis, avg.
Pujols - 21, 69, .392
Sheffield - 22, 63, .336
Delgado - 25, 86, .310

- Arpikarhu - 06-28-2003

in terms of value to thier team
1. delgado- carried the jays
2.sheffield- carried the braves in june
3. pujols- plenty of hitters on this team. pujols is just one of them. though the best one

I don't want to jinx anything but, the last month, I'm gonna give some credit to Matsui. This guy has been hitting everything and anything. Not to mention he's found that power finally. Might not be up there with delgado, Pujols and sheffield or have the jaw dropping stats....but I think he's at least in the top 15 up till this point.

- Galt - 06-29-2003

He's not even one of the top 15 hitters in the AL east.

Delgado has just as good a lineup as Pujols. Vernon Wells is no slouch, and Delgado has much better on base guys than Pujols ahead of him.

i disagree with your every statement and furthermore brand you as a communist agent.

is it because he's white?

- Galt - 06-29-2003

Matsui is no superstar. The top 15 in the East was an offhanded comment, but he is way closer to being barely in the top 15 in AL East than being anywhere near the top 15 in baseball.

And Wells has been just as good as anyone else in the Cards lineup.

I win and you have shown your malknowledge of all things baseball.

- Arpikarhu - 06-30-2003

wells is one guy. the cards have more than one wells quality hitter in thier lineup.
commie bastard!

- GonzoStyle - 06-30-2003

I'm with Galt on this one.

- Velociti - 06-30-2003

I would take Todd Helton over any of those guys. He has consistantly hit for power and average over the last 4 or 5 years and is most likely the main reason that Colorado doesn't get killed every game.

pujols had a big write up about him on espn.com this weekend, which i'm guessing was the inspiration for this thread. pujols is a phenomenal talent, delgado is have the better overall season. he's carrying his team and has a ridiculous number of RBI's, the most important stat when it comes to being valuable to your team.

another thing i read on ESPN.com before was something about WIN share, a stat that Bill James developed to figure how valuable a player is to his team, I wonder if Pujols's WIN Share is among the top hitters in the game.

Bo Hart...12 games for the Cards, he's hitting .460 with 12 runs scored and since he's a pretty good story overall, he's got my 25 internet votes to play 2nd base for the national league. If not him, then that Pujols character isn't bad either.

- GonzoStyle - 06-30-2003

Yeah Pujols aint bad he just went 4 for 6 today with 2 homers, that's all.

Pujols plays 3rd.
