I don't know what to think....Thursday night i was at the Beacon theater to see Dreamtheater wrap up the 1st leg of there North American tour. During their second set DreamTheater came out and played Metallica - MASTER OF PUPPETS (the album, not just the song) From BATTERY to ORION.

Being a DreamTheater fan I always enjoy when the band throws in it's mix of cover-songs, but at the same time I payed to see DreamTheater, not a Metallica tribute band.

Although i can't understand people who were getting completley pissed about them playing the whole ablum. DT didn't have an opening Act. They started at 8pm and played straight till midnight. So people got there 3 hrs of original music plus 1 hr of goofing around by the band.

What would you think if one of you Favorite Bands didn this at a concert?....Not just do a Cover song, but a Cover album?

Phish used to do it every Halloween and it was always great. They've played the Beatles' White Album, Quadrophenia, Talking Heads' Remain In Light, Velvet Underground's Loaded, and of course, the hippie standard, Dark Side of the Moon.

I miss Phish tour. Sad

Last time I saw Britney Spear at CBGB's she did the entire Judas Priest cataloge, but get this....she performed it backwards, hidden messages and all. Life altering experience.

damn, now I'm really fucking kicking myself for missing the shows this week. Hopefully, a boot will be made available.

I can see why they did it, though. They just played a New York show last month, plus one the night before, and the Thursday night show was being billed as a special "one time only" set or some such thing. Just how many times are they supposed to drag out Pull Me Under? I'm sure they probably did it as a big FU to Lars as well.

It's ALL Lars' fault man. It's a conspiracy. I'm telling you. Lars and Bill Gates are trying to take over the world. WATCH OUT! Pretty soon all the cd's you will buy, when put into a CD player and played, the CD will send a messge to Microsoft telling them all sorts of personal information about yourself, your SS#, your credit card information, your wifes bra size, and the score you got on or mid term in Jr Year of Chem.

That would've totally kicked ass, watching them play almost the whole album!!! I've seen Dream Theater 6? times, maybe 7....in January, their rehearsal for this show was absolutely amazing. 3 hours of your favorite band playing, alone? :thumbs-up: I don't care what they play (although they didn't play The Mirror/Lie when I saw em which kinda pissed me off, they played only the beginning of Lie
plus, they do some really great covers...

- Galt - 04-01-2002

As long as they played Pull Me Under, I'd be happy. In fact, if they played it first, I'd probably just leave.

That is SO fitting. Make the musical idiots (yeah, you) wait til the end to hear their little radio hit.

Of course, the thought of not ever hearing it for myself, leaves a tear to my eye...

3 hours BEFORE 1 hour of a tribute to another bands full album? One of another bands best albums? People are complaining about this? With most bands you are lucky to get 2 hours total, and that may be with a cover or 2.

Like someone just said, Phish does this too.

Too bad Springsteen doesn't.

Sorry, some nobody...

I am having browser crashing issues, and sean has cgi usage issues. Forgive me if I don't use extra cgi resources, while at the same time subject my browser to crash even more just so you can feel better about getting credit for something you said on a message board.

Pffft back at ya!

- Danked - 04-02-2002

That's better. Smile
