Ipod challenge........ - Ken'sPen - 10-09-2006

I will hit random,
and then write down the first ten songs that come up in my Ipod.
for your ridicule and amusement....

I ask you do the same,

but honesty is important,
if a lame ass song comes up, own it.

Jimmy Jone - The Vapors
On Your Own - Blur
Milkshake - Kelis
Johnny Quest - Reverand Horton Heat
The Kids Aren't Alright - The Offspring
Faniculi, Fanicula - Rodney Dangerfield
I Can't Stand up for Falling Down - Elvis Costello
Wimoweh - The Kingston Trio
Tonight Tonight Tonight - Genisis (ouch)
The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

- Goatweed - 10-09-2006

I never use the random option on my Zen player.

- GonzoStyle - 10-09-2006

I really wanna get an MP3 player, I dunno if I should get the smaller ones with like 2-3 gbs or invest in the larger ones of like 20gb.

How many songs can you fit on the smaller ones?

- Goatweed - 10-09-2006

it depends largely on what rate you set when you rip the music - most of the ad stats are based on music ripped at 128 kb/s, I like my stuff to be at 192 or 224 - it sounds less tinny & more 'fuller'. The files are therefore larger and less longs would be able to be stored.

my last player was 40 gig and my new one is 30 gig & with 2 movies on it, I've got 325 cd's and I've got about half the space used up.

I use mine in the car, at work, etc. so I like haveing most of my cd's available when I need them - if you only plan on using it occassionally one of those nano things (or a similar non-apple product) would probably suit you fine.

- GonzoStyle - 10-09-2006

I would probably mainly use it at the gym, cause the cd player is too bulky.

what kind of kit do you need to use it in the car though? How much does a set up like that cost? Cause if I can use it in the car, then that may be worth the extra bucks for a larger player.

- Goatweed - 10-09-2006

I just use a cassette adapter, its not the best but it works for me until I get a new radio for the car. You can buy a Sony one for like $20 at Best Buy (Sony's seem to last the longest).

Only thing is you gotta play with the volume settings on the player & the car, to find a good balance so it doesnt sound too loud or bassy, etc.

- GonzoStyle - 10-09-2006

meh, I used to have one of those for my cd player, I guess it wouldnt be as bulky with an ipod but still kinda lame.

- Goatweed - 10-09-2006

it works in the car, not bulky at all but I'd rather just plug it into the radio - when I get my new radio I plan on doing it that way.

- Galt - 10-09-2006

The smaller ones are annoying. I always think I'm going to break them. But the bigger ones are a bit too big if you are going to use them at the gym. Clipping them to your belt, not only looks gay, but costs another $20 accessory. If you can get one that has a few gigs and you can wear around your neck, it would be cool

In regards to size. I have 3,300 songs and it's about 13 gigs. So do the math for whatever size you want.

The video portion is useless. You'll never use it. The screen is too small, and it drains the batter like a bitch.

For a car, it shouldn't matter what size you get. The connector is universal, so either iPod should work (unless they have a cradle that only fits each size). It's about $70 for the car adaptor I had. I gave it away when I stopped travelling and therefore stopped renting cars. It's made by Belkin, has a hard, flexible metal arm that plugs into the cigarrette lighter. Since the arm was hard and flexible, you could position it however you wanted, and not have to lay the thing on the console.

Paul Simon - Mrs. Robinson
Billy Joel - Captain Jack
Franz Ferdinand - This Fire
Stan Bush - Dare
John Mayer - Why Georgia
Outkast - Roses
Hootie & The Blowfish - Only Want to Be with You
Cardigans - My Favourite Game
Ennio Morricone - L Arena
Led Zeppelin - Tangerine

- Ken'sPen - 10-09-2006

you both suck balls.
