i cant connect through aim since i got my router. ive done numerous searches mostly telling me to forward port 5190, but that doesnt work. then i found one saying to forward port 4443. that worked. but only for five minutes and never again. How the fuck can i get this to work!?!?

i just hooked up my router and aim works fine.

your router should have an admin that allows you to open ports for various apps. open the port in the admin you have AIM set to use

- Maynard - 12-23-2002

It's SCSI, not Scuzzi. Rolleyes

yeah....thats 5190 and i tried that. it didnt work....i shall try again though

- Ronin - 12-23-2002

can't you change the port for AIM?
go into AIM and click on the Sign On/Off. There should be a button on the lower right "connection". click on that and see if it can get to the AIM servers. maybe it will find another port on its own..

:disappointed:

IF you have a linksys router this is a widely known problem. Its a problem with when aim sends the connect message to who you want to connect to it tells the other persons computer your ip is the one on your computer not the ones of lets just say your cable modem. So your computers ip is 192.168.1.100 but your cable modems ip which is the one that people need to connect to your is like 24.185.16.167 when that happens they look into almost like space to find you. ITs an error in AIM programing and the people at aol dont seem to be quick to fix it

- Keyser Soze - 12-23-2002

ronin is right, let AIM find a port automatically, follow his directions

i think thats where bartman is confused

- QuickStop - 12-23-2002

i want to use the connect feature of aim where you can send pictures and such through the aim window.

- Bartman - 12-23-2002

hes saying hthat he is able to get onto aim but cannot directly connect to somone on aim to send pictures or talk to someone that type of thing i have hte same exact problem

- Keyser Soze - 12-23-2002

you're going to need level 2 tech support for that issue, let me put you on hold and get an adolescent masturbator to help you.
