The black box I have no longer works for the PPV stations as they have moved up from channels 64, 65, 66 up to the 90's and you have to request it now if you want PPV. We have Cablevision. Damn fuckers.

This fucking sucks. Goatweed is yours still working

When did this die? My friend has one, and he didn't lose any of his PPV stations. They just moved.

if you switch from analog to digital cable then you're really fucked.

my buddy that has a business that makes and sells these hot boxes/black boxes told me that digital cable is next to impossible to hack.

thanks. now i'm gonna have that stupid song from the commercial stuck in my head!

The reason you can't hack digital is because everything is hosted on the server. The signals work differently. I don't believe there's a constant feed streaming out. Your box requests everything. That's why there's a bit of lag when changing channels. So you'd have to hack the server to get free shit. And the chances of getting caught doing that go up significantly.

I had that but Directv shot a bullet through it and took away the original H card (satellite not football player) which powered that whole set up with the computer and emulator.

I also know someone who tried sending their card to someone and had it mailed back to them and a couple days later a lawyer sent him a letter stating a lawsuit against him because they were able to access the guys records and any addresses he had.

im working in character, mr imus uses characters.

- Teenweek - 01-16-2003

bastard

my buddy has it setup and it still works. it requires a pc hooked up to the card tho to work.

- Teenweek - 01-16-2003

i had that with the computer with a command you had to type in at the dos prompt, emulator, long green card sticking into satellite. it stopped working around 3 months ago. The h card is no longer in existence. It does not work with the hu card at least from what I have heard.

- LZMF1 - 01-16-2003

so he has an emulator. i thought that DTV figured out how to shoot those down too

as of last night it was working fine, but I have Time Warner Cable - not Cablevision. Doesn't your cable box go up to around channel 125? If not, you'll have to get one that does. This is the box I essentially have now - mine is an older model though) and I've had it for over 5 years - had to reset/unplug it once. The site I bought it from seems to have moved on, but there are loads of places that you can get it from. Just make sure that they will sell to NY if you plan on buying one.

I'm considering getting a dish when we move, and I looked into this also - it seems like it's a lot of work, and you really have to know the right people (which I don't). You either have to have the card swiped by someone every time it's disabled, or you have to get emulation software/hardware and a spare PC to do it yourself (at least that's the impression I got). If it's gotten easier to do, I'd love to know about it :-D

edit : Sorry TW, make sure they will sell to NJ (I thought you were in NYC). Just make sure to read the fine print about warranty terms - my box came with a 3 year deal, but in order to get it I had to fill out and return a form that wanted me to state the name, address and phone # of my cable co. which I didn't do so if my box died, I was fucked. Luckily it's still going strong), and I would recommend ordering over the phone or via a paypal transfer (for privacy issues).

i used to do that shit with the H and HU cards out of boredom. it's rather easy to do and free PPVs and porn is always nice.

it just turned into a hassle finding the fix each time the cards got hit.
