OK... first things first....
Um... when did Johnny die?...I mean, I remember a few years ago he got assaulted & hit over the head, but I don't remember hearing about Johnny dying... do you mean Joey?
Either way.... I've met both of them (actually all of the Ramones at one time or another... DeeDee, Markie, Tommy, Ritchie & CJ)
OK...that being said... this is kinda weird cuz I've actually met a few of the people some of you listed...
I actually met Henry while he was still singing in Black Flag at the Show Place (in Dover, NJ) in the early 80's ...and then a few years later, I met him again at City Garden's (in Trenton, NJ) while he was performing his very first live show with the "Rollins Band" and spoke with him for a few minutes backstage before the show... I did a short interview with him for my old Fanzine... I'll see if I can find it to post... it's very amusing...
ok... now that that's all out of the way... I'll list mine...
Alive: Johnny Cash... I briefly met him after a show at Carnigie Hall (like '91 or '92) and was able to get him to do a radio ID for the college station I used to DJ at... But, I would love to be able to sit on his front porch in an old rocking chair and ask him questions for hours... He truly is a living legend...
Dead: hmmm, tough one... a lot of good ones have already been listed, but I think I would go with either Elvis Presley or Marc Bolin from T-Rex...

Quote:Spit Posted: Feb. 28 2002,10:58I met him while he was still in his band Carnivore... and actually, I did an interview with him in the basement of L'Amour (in B'klyn) like 10 or 12 years ago... He had just formed Type O Negative, but at the time they were called "Repulsion" ...problem was, some lame German band already had the name... Pete was a really cool guy... he actually gave me his home phone number so I could do a follow up interview... (sorry Spit, he's since moved & the number is no longer working or I'd give it to you)
Alive - Peter Steele
Quote:Keyser: Posted: Feb. 28 2002,10:49I was working as Local Crew at a Giants Stadium show (late 80's early 90's... i forget) After the show Paul did a quick walk thru shaking hands with the Local Crew before he jumped into him Limo and spead away... I didn't get to talk to him at all... just shook his hand... although, I did get to put his bass (the violin shaped one) into it's case & carry it to the truck to be loaded...
Alive - Paul Mc Cartney, to find out if John was full of shit.

Alive: Paul McCartney, just because.
Quote:Sean Cold: Posted: Feb. 28 2002,11:17Ahhh... Axl....what a pompus little junkie... I actually met all of G'n'R... I used to DJ at a bar on the Lower East Side on NY called "King Tut's Wah Wah Hut" back in the late 80's, early 90's... at the time it was one of the "trendy" bars to hang out at (along with places like Lizmar Lounge, Scrap Bar, Spiral, Downtown Beruit...etc.) when big named bands came to town... it was after a show at MSG, that the G'n'R boys took over the Wah Wah... I only briefly said hello to everyone in the band before they all (but Izzy) went to the back of the bar, by the pool tables... Izzy actually sat at the bar with the Road Crew most of the night... at one point he actually came over & complimented me on my choice of music... (I believe it was a segway[sp] from Steve Miller to Motorhead to T-Rex) ...and of course, most all of us have met Slash at Bar 9 events...)
Alive:Axl Rose, just because
Quote:MetalFan: Posted: Feb. 28 2002,12:31Axl... (see above) and David Bowie = same basic story as the Paul McCartney... Local Crew at Giants Stadium during his "Sound & Vision" tour...
Alive - Axl Rose or perhaps David Bowie
