| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | Over time, anything that was originally funny becomes overdone. Especially here on the message board, people tend to overuse O&A terms, and they get rather old, not to mention unoriginal. The ones I think that have gotten old are: Deek (or Nice Head Deek) Die, Get in the Coffin Tool (not neccesarily an O&A term but SO overused) Okay Terrific Any AIDS joke Any use of intitials for curses like Fing or Holy S, just say the curse, we are not censored here. And finally, A lot of people might say "Dillon" has gotten old, but it hasnt been used for a while and I don't mind it so much because it brings back a lot of memories of the old days of the board when we gave the term its true meaning. There might be others, but I cant think of them right now. So which phrases could you do without being used on the board anymore?  | ||||

Speaking of Dillon, I'd like to know the origin of that. I have no idea since I'm in Boston and have only been (once again) been around the show for a few months. Is it a show term, or a board term?  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | "Dillon" originally came from the show. It's the Arnold Swarzanegger clip from Predator, and Ant loved it so much he started playing it to death on the show. Then we gave it our own meaning on the board, when someone posted a stupid thread or reply, they would get a "Dillon". It has been like that ever since. | ||||

Another one that got old was the slipping in a puddle of AIDS. Not many others, which shows you how much die get in the coffin and slipping in a puddle of AIDS is used around here. It is only when the particular phrase is used out of context that it becomes overused. Therefore, only the Jim Norton "Die in a puddle of AIDS" would be the only one being overused. All others, going back to "Okay, Brother" and "Okay, Terrific", no matter how old they are, are still useful to this day. Those comments are used when needed and not overused. Still, at this point it hasn't got old, but I can imagine how it will hold up in a year or two... EDIT: I myself even say it from time to time, it's grown on me.
