Yeah that Eminem freestyle was awful. But according to him he reinvented hip-hop so give him his respect. Never mind people like the sugar hill gang, all rappers today should thank him.

No, he did not invent hip hop, but every style of Black Music has had a couple of whities who have made the music palatable to the general public (which is white due to being the majority). For rap, it was the Beastie Boys followed by Vanilla Ice. He has made some money, reached a level of popularity unheard of by the majority. He should just kick back, jet ski, and just coast through live. BTW, 3rd Base majorly sucks. There was a kettle calling pot black coattailer if I have ever seen one.

Honestly, I know nothing about his history in the music business...I was in high school and I thought he was a douche. However, he was able to hang out in the studio today and he had some semblance of a sense of humor. Hell, he even got along with Mr. Cantone. AND, he went to the stairwell with Stinky...GOOD GUEST.

You gotta figure he is just a guy now. Forget his "art". He just hangs out and lives off of his bank account. Sounds like every man's fucking dream. Who cares if, for a week, every girl between 13-19 were throwing their panties at him. It occurs to me that bman67 won't be getting ANY panties thrown at him for a LONG time.

He should just forget about his detractors and coast. He was better than Kobi Tai, Asia Carrera, and Heidi Fleiss combined.

yea he did add to the show, its just that after he came back from the stairwell and busted a few horrible freestyles, i thought he was going to be really stupid and drag the show down with him, which in the long run he didnt do. whatever, whether youre laughing with him or at him (most probable) i guess he did entertain. however, anyone who refers to korn and LB's music as "hardcore" even in passing, should be anally intruded with the wrong end of a broom....

He was a much better guest than I expected. Especially with not demanding that they call him Rob instead of Vaniila Ice. I hate when former celebs refuse to acknowledge what made them famous. I like that he was honest about being a pawn for the record company, though I don't know if he should be proud of claiming to have commercialized hip-hop.

WORD TO YOUR MOTHER!!

I had to turn off the show yesterday. Between Vanilla Ice and that Snozwangler from the Spin Doctors, I thought O/A were reviving Bad Guest Week!

Was there even a 'serious inquiries only' segment during the V Ice appearance?

It never ceases to amaze me the way some people (people that you would never suspect were capable of this) have the ability to rise above the petty bickering and become, albeit reluctantly, the lone voice of reason.

I noticed this about a year ago while Dubya & Al were fighting over chads and Pat F-ing Buchanan, of all people, was the only rational person in the entire state of Florida.

Well, it just happened again. Sure, we all agree that "Vanilla Ice" is the hoakiest guy any of us have ever seen. But, "Rob", on the other hand, is obviously a fairly intelligent, down to earth, "normal" person.

What the F is the deal with this "your band is so lame" attitude? And, it's not even "my" band. I had nothing to do with the writing or recording of any of their music. I just happen to enjoy listening to it. If any of your lives are dramatically impacted by how many records a rap artist (and I use the word "artist" VERY loosely) sells, then maybe you should be getting professional help.

Maybe it is because I've never liked rap, hip hop, ghetto, etc. that it is so easy for me stand back and look at this situation objectively. I don't know... But, it goes way beyond "rap".

What of the "Spin Doctors"? Sure they're extra lame as well. But, why? Becasue they "made it"? So, if you have a hit record, you've sold out? is that how it works?

weren't they "cool" just a few years ago? But, then you start seeing their bumper stickers on every other piece of S subcompact and, all of a sudden... they might as weel be played in the elevator.

What I really can't figure out is why these people don't understand that it is their own doing. You march around acting as if you are too cool for the rest of the world. "We don't understand you." And, as soon as someone makes an attempt to understand where you're coming from... you turn on the very thing that set you apart...

I don't know why I even responded here. I have no solution. I don't even have any suggestions. But, as far as "V. Ice" is concerned, you gotta respect his ability to rise above the pettiness and, speak sensibly.

I don't think that he has any choice at this point. He isn't in any position to speak down on anyone and expect someone to defend him. His last attempt at an amlbum was awefull. He used the producer from Korn to change his image all around and make as though he was that way from the start and then he comes back to say on the show that he was one of the original white rappers and was good. He doesn't get respect because he doesn't deserve it. Hey, kudos to him for making it and and making money, he did, what I think, everyone would like to do. But if I recall, he was getting dissed back when he first came out regardless of how many people were wearing his merchandise.
And Korn and LB were good when there music was good, not because everyone started to like them. They got heat and fans turned on them when they put out albums that sucked. Not because they 'sold out'. Like the Tool song said 'I sold out long before you ever knew my name. I sold my soul to make a record, and then you bought one.' Selling out happens when the first contract is signed, letting record exec's tell you how to write and what you should sound like is when you roll over, which is what the latter two bands, and Staind as a matter of fact, did.

barch, i never found korn or LB cool, but thats besides the point. the point is, they're pop music, just like Vanilla Ice. granted not BSB or N*SYNC type pop, but pop in the sense that they're manafactured products from a record company, who have little if any input on how their final product sounds and/or is distributed. if you or anyone else likes their music, thats cool, i'm not on here saying "you motherfuckers who like that shit are gay, blah blah blah," cuz half the time those ignorant jerk-offs are the REAL posers. however, i dont think anyone should talk about shit they don't know about, case in point Vanilla calling them and his own music hardcore. "hardcore" is really more in the punk spirit of DIY: being who you are regardless of trends, keeping your music as real as possible, not catering to a record co.'s image of what they want you to be, and namely not being out solely to make money but make music and play shows cuz you love doing it (although, this point can definitley be argued in today's scene). now if you could make an agrument that Korn, LB, and Vanilla Ice do all of the above, then id call them hardcore, but you wont be able to cuz its fuckin impossible...

The point is are the guests interesting. I liked the show and I'm not a fan of Ice or Chris Barron. I also like Mick Foley - great guest - and I don't follow wrestling. If they have good stories then the show is interesting. The director of "Blow" was a great guest and so is Greg Brady.
