All I have been seeing lately is O&A are bad at this...O&A are bad at that...Opie is whining too much...

Assfucks!!!

1) Opie has been whining since day one
2) They have ALWAYS admitted that some days the shows just suck. You do everything perfectly at work every day?

Its the SAME goddamn show it has always been. They come in have a sorta idea on what they want to do then hang out....

What the fuck happened to you people???

Those are the best shows - today's show - EXCELLENT. Everyone was just hangin' today. Everyone's going to have their likes and dislikes I guess, but I like the shows where they have few guests and just shoot the shit.

There are people here that just want to badmouth the boys, but they seem to be Stern fans here to rile things up.

(And I think Anthony's patented "Asscunt" might be a better description :))

I agree with Spork...even the "slower" shows are great to listen to. I can't remember ever thinking to myself at the end of a show that it was a disapointment and a waste of time to listen to. This is the O&A Show and this is what they do (and have done) so successfully.

I agree. I'd much rather listen to them hang out and maybe have a funny guest than hear a cluster fuck. I miss the interactivity though. Maybe it's just me, but I remember the days where there were a lot more comments pulled off Instant Feedback, when there were armies of O & A fans doing shit in the streets, painting signs, etc., when people came here for news, when we used to have an interaction with the show... and I mean that not only from an OA.com standpoint, but from a listener standpoint.

This is true..but with all of the new cities they must be getting overwhelmed with IFs. I also think that they make up for it with all of the listener phone calls they take.

Boo hoo, cry me a fucking river. You posted your comments, I posted my reply. Funny how that happens on a MESSAGE BOARD, eh?

As far as me still being here, talk to your boss.

I thought it was an excellent show today-that noise that Opie was making when Anthony was doing his "There is No God" bit was out-of-this-world.(I doubt either of them is going to make the Philosophy Hall-of-Fame.)

I always like the "lets explore the mangled psyches of our radio hosts"type shows better than the sex shows anyway-porn without the visuals doesn't cut it for me.

It's simple. If you don't listen, you will not feel compelled to bash the show. I mean, have you seen me bashing the show?

People are free to disagree and dislike the show, to have problems with aspects of it, or the personalities involved. So long as it's an actual discussion I have no problem allowing people to express their opinions here.

opak, I agree with 90% of what you've said. People, remeber this: Their worst show is 1,000 times better than anything you or I could put together! They simply ROCK!!

opak, the only thing I disagree with is that the show hasn't changed. It has. But, in my opinion, it's not because of O&A, but more markets means more PD's and more "sensitive" programming. I am sure the boys get more and more requests to "do this" and "don't say that" and so on and so on. THEY STILL MAKE IT WORK, however.

If you really want to hear a sell-out in action, I think K-Rock features one in the mornings......

And that sort of thing might be something that Opie & Anthony could try to address, really. I have NO idea what sort of newfound pressures they are under, that's for sure.

My only "concern" is that there's some sort of "media consultant" trying to tell them how to do the show now that they're nationally syndicated.

The long commercial breaks, that can't be avoided. Even if they could get more per spot as they gain success, the whores at the station and the syndicates will just sell more time, not less.

But what about that interactivity? That is one of the great things that makes Opie & Anthony different from a lot of these other shows that are out their. They are tech savvy (discussions about video games = more gooder) and I just hope they go back to embracing that sort of thing.

Do they feel pressured in trying to sell the show to more affiliates that they always have to have guests on, for instance? The bigger the name the better?

I don't listen to Opie & Anthony to hear famous guests, I listen for Opie & Anthony!

I get psyched when my IF is read on the air, it's such a cool element to make the fans feel more a part of the show.

But it does come down to battling all these interests, and the bottom line is it is a business, it's sad but true.

Radio executives think the dream O&A show is a guest lineup of Tom Hanks, Regis Philbin and Colin Powell.

Spork thinks a dream show is Opie & Anthony pulling up drudgereport and just talking about the stories, "playing funny noises", doing impressions and just philosophizing about stuff and asking for feedback from the listening audience.

Is the better analogy Letterman at 12:30 vs. Letterman at 11:30?

I always said the best thing about the show is the interaction with the fans, the lack of structure, the spotenateny. They would have a shit show, being totally hung over or something, then a fan calls up, lays a rip and the show is off on a different tangent and is great. Now, it is approaching the Chick: some fan interaction, but bits are researched, prepared, rehearsed, and blocked out.

i haven't read the rest of the threads so if i miss somthing, well tough shit. ya know what, the show does suck lately and I am a fan: deal with it. when the show turns around again i will be on the bandwagon. I am a fairweather fan and i admit it, right now the forcast is bleak and rainy with no funnyshine in the forcast. its not like i am the only one who doesn't listen anymore; mods, i won't make you speak up but you know who you are. well this is just a drunken rampage with no harm intended. But the fact of the matter is the show does and has sucked for since syndication. Go against me and burn, if i remember to check this thread again that it.

the streets will flow red with the blood of the non-believers

Look im not saying you cant have an opinion of the show. One of the things that made the show great was the loyalty of us the fans. They have always had their slumps and there are a few things that they cant do now because of management. But as always they will bounce back. I personally dont see anything wrong with the show now as it is. Its the same O&A I've always listened to. They still make me laugh. They still make me want to puke on occasion. They still come in hang out and talk about whats going on and whats bugging us and them. But then again these same arguments have been popping up all over since this place was made. Ill still be listening till they get kicked off or retire...thats my piece and my opinion...

Um, let's see. I think it was the book deals, the movie and his 180 degree stance on putting celebs on the spot. Why did he do it? Underneath it all, the man is weak! NO spine. O&A aren't changing, they're operating under new sets of restrictions. There is a diffeence.

I agree with the person who said that O/A on their worst day is better than most radio shows. However, it's good for the O/A fans to have a forum like this message board to say whether they think the show is slipping or whether it is the funniest thing they've ever heard. If you tell someone how great they are all the time, then they become out of touch and lame like Howard Stern did.

Personally I think the show is a great show, but it definitely has its periods of lameness. I haven't laughed hysterically at their show since Spaz left.

I agree that when they sit around and talk like regular people and interact w/ the audience, whether it be the NY/NJ people or the rest of the country, that they are at the top of their game. When they start getting caught up in the celebrity worship, or quasi-celebrity worship (Vanilla Ice, and the Spin Doctors guy), they are totally GAY!

Exactly, that's the point. The guys have never sat and asked people to kiss their ass.

This is a place where the fans can voice their criticism and be constructive. Because odds are that if one person is seeing a problem or has an idea for improvement, then at least some other people share the same view. It does nobody any good to just go along and agree with everything that is done. That's when things get stale and feedback becomes meaningless.
