I read somewhere on the web that O and A's San Francisco station is changing formats in the new year. Does this mean O and A are gone from that station?

I would imagine that if they are changing format that Infinity would move them to a different affiliate in the market, but that's just my guess. I really don't know how these things work.

Hmm, their site is currently under construction.

Their San Fran station is AM, mainly (or is it all?) talk, but run by an FM country station. The KYCY-AM station's site was just an offshoot of the KYCY-FM site - that entire site, y933.com (Y93.3 = name of the FM station), is down for construction. The construction will probably reflect the format change...

So... perhaps, if they're changing both KYCY's, the FM will switch over to a rock format and AM will stay talk, but bookended with rock music instead of country....

Just a guess. I don't know crap. :)

::raising hand:: Ooh! Ooh! Call on me! I'm listening to O&A in San Francisco RIGHT NOW!!

Yes, 1550 AM was the "sister station" of "Young Country" 93.3 FM (That's what KYCY means. Who listens to country music in California?)... I think the format change in question was from country to "Talk And More" (which is what their promos say).

I believe 1550 also recently changed call letters from KYCY-AM to KPIX -- that's according to the radio listings in last Sunday's paper.

And if anybody's wondering, their lineup is Imus, O&A, Leykis, D&M taped, R&F (??, obviously taped).

West Coast Dave, please do comment :)

As of noon today, 93.3 KYCY-FM has officially switched to a "world rhythm" format. The station is now called "93.3 The Wave". What this means for KYCY-AM (KPIX?) or O&A is unclear. More details as they become available.

Now that my college applications are in the mail, I think I'll be around the board more often. As for this topic...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That reminds me of the movie Airheads. The relaxing sounds of The Rain...

Wow... what a mess. Don't beat me up for this, but I listen to Leykis on Sundays on WNEW, because once in a while its interesting, mostly to hear how stupid his callers are, how stupid his topics are, how stupid HE is, all the ridiculous crap he does, etc., but its the SAME THING EVERY TIME. Two hours on Sunday gets repetitive. How can anyone listen to his whole show 5 days a week? And why are Ron and Fez not live anywhere?

KYCY-AM is airing O&A as scheduled today, with no noticable change in the station at all. There has no mention of any new call letters or the new format on KYCY-FM.

93.3 "The Wave" has been playing some interesting stuff. They played a few reggae songs, some Enya, some new Clapton, and some 70's R&B (no, my brotha). It's better than country, but then again, so is the sound of Lady Di's voice.
