| Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02  | Is WNEW blocking certain domains? When I attempt to gain access to www.wnew.com on my system that uses "optonline" as the ISP I either can't get in or I get redirected to the "WCBS Facilities Web Site". If I use any or the other two ISP's I have access to I get into the regular WNEW page, no problem. My problem is that the Optimum Online ISP is my single broadband ISP. The other two are 56k. So my high speed access is blocked. What's the deal? Is WNEW blocking access to the WNEW site to Optimum Online customers? | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02 | Ok.. this is VERY strange. I checked with a neighbor who uses the same hub I do to access Optimum online... meaning the XXX.XXX.xxx.xxx is the same as mine. We log into Optimum Online via the same neighborhood hub. No problem logging in to "www.wnew.com" and "www.opieandanthony.com". While I get redirected at one, and blocked entirely at the other. I don't quite understand. I have never done anything inappropriate from my systems. I am a well behaved netizen. A grown adult whose been online for years and years. This is the most bizarre bit of net business I have ever bumped into. The only thing I have yet to check is if there are any "cookie" issues. Barring that, I have to presume the webmaster(s) made some sort of mistake in attempting to block a specific IP address and accidently typed in my in a configuration file. | Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02 | Yeah Froy, that seems to be the case. Though for what reason I have absolutely no idea. I checked the last possible problem on my end that might be responsible, a cookie issue. Not it. Netscape, Opera, IE, all the same. Checked from another Optimum Online system with different IP address, I can log in fine. It seems, that for reasons totally unknown to me, my IP address has been blocked at the WNEW server. How rude! [luckily I have a sense of humor about such things] | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02 | Yeah, I can still get them on my radio [how clever]. The IP address here has been static since I opened the account [though its supposed to be dynamic]. Perhaps I'll give tech support a call and ask them to terminate the license of the current IP address. That should pop up a new one. I might also see what a call to WNEW, asking for who ever is in charge of the website [wonder if they out source it] will provide in the way of an answer to this bit of a quandry. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02 | Yeah, probably. However, I am. I went though my hacking/phreaking phase when I was a kid. Never got jammed up once. That's why I find this kind of humerous. In the biz, towing the straight and narrow path, and NOW I have an issue. :) Only goes to show you, playing it straight never pays. [that's a joke] As to flushing caches, all the obvious stuff was done right away. Changing the IPa, with Optimum that requires that they do it from there end. I can't kill the license on the IP address from my end. They have to do it. [Oh, if only this were a Unix to Unix set up] As to the self appointed APM, Mr Cros... I figured he was only goofing or someone I should ignore. You get to be able to pick em out when you've been around as long as I have. :) [that was a joke as well Irish... ] | ||||
