I hear they're gonna be moved to Stern's station in New York.

I work in the biz.

I don't think this is a bad idea, it's perfect in Philly, Howard in the mornings, O&A in afternoons, it should be good for NYC too.

Actually, it would make more sence to move the only talk show off of the rock station. Than to move the only successful talk show off of the almost all talk station. Unless, of course, there's another format change in store for WNEW.

Can't imagine that howard would ever agree to that though.

Just my opinion. I really don't know a thing about it.

I think it would make sense. NEW is struggling with really no successful programs besides O&A. and Infinity could put their two best shows together and advertise for each other.

Wouldn't Howard severely dislike that idea?

It doesn't matter what station they work at, when it comes to syndication, they are already on the same stations in some cities. An example is WYSP in Philly. Mornings and afternoons respectively. Infinity broadcasting already controls both shows, profit sharing, etc. This would only help the New York station benefit from the ratings, if O and A moved to KROCK. Why would this occur? To benefit who? WNEW in New York changed formats for a reason. Why would they let the rock station take their nest egg.

How long has it been since don & mike broadcast fast WNEW? I realize they're nothing in NY but, they seem to be the "talent" in DC. I don't know what went on in the studio when they tried doing their show from NY but, that sure didn't last long.

Jesus - can you imagine if they were on the same station in NY and had a crossover show? Cringe radio would take on a whole new meaning 'cause you know O&A would do something fucked and shit knows what STern would be like.

That would be really a strange idea, but you know it might help the show. WNEW is bringing down the guys and they need to be somewhere were they arn't holding it together. Stern and O&A might have their fights at the station and I can't possible see a gag order staying in place if they are at the same station. That wouldn't make sense. Who knows though. I assumed that they were going to get yelled at for letting people eat puke. O well.

Of all the classes that stand face to face with the bourgeoisie today, the proletariat alone is a genuinely revolutionary class. The other classes decay and finally disappear in the face of Modern Industry; the proletariat is its special and essential product. The lower middle class, the small manufacturer, the shopkeeper, the artisan, the peasant, all these fight against the bourgeoisie, to save from extinction their existence as fractions of the middle class. They are therefore not revolutionary, but conservative. Nay, more, they are reactionary, for they try to roll back the wheel of history. If, by chance, they are revolutionary, they are only so in view of their impending transfer into the proletariat; they thus defend not their present, but their future interests; they desert their own standpoint to place themselves at that of the proletariat. The "dangerous class", the social scum, that passively rotting mass thrown off by the lowest layers of the old society, may, here and there, be swept into the movement by a proletarian revolution; its conditions of life, however, prepare it far more for the part of a bribed tool of reactionary intrigue.

The fact that O&A would be broadcasting on the same station as Stern isn't big news, because its already being done in other cities. What should be interesting is that fact that they would be in the same building, and I feel this would force Howard to acknowledge them. I personally feel that Mel is grooming the boys to replace Howard when he retires.

It's all politics. All-talk FM needs the top talk personalities to suceed on the level people would want to see.

Just the facts here:
WNEW currently is 18th overall in billing at 21 million a year.
Big Bird pulls in 40 million of Krock's 61 million.

I doubt the Sportsguys make much for the station, so do the math: We're talking about WNEW at at least 50 million if Big Bird went to WNEW, assuming Big Birds money dropped by changing stations. But you also have to figure that with that old man in the morning, the rate card for WNEW's other shows would jump up as well. The majority of the listeners of his show turn the station off when he's done. At WNEW, and all-talk, people would be prone to stay. D&M's numbers in cities where they follow him are quite high. So again, the math: figure that WNEW current money could easily double or even more, so 60 million would be very attainable. Figure that the top grossing staiton, WFAN, makes 62 million.

I'll go out on a limb here, but I think WNEW could surpass that with Big Bird in the morning. And what sucks is that there is virtually no chance of that happening due to the stupid politics in radio, especially around big bird.

And what sucks even more is that much of the same could be said if O&A were on Krock. For R&F fans, and even the few D&M fans out there, an O&A move would almost certainly mean a big seeya to the other talk shows.

Here are the $$$ numbers: Visit this Website

But again, I'd be content with R&F in the morning, music mid-day, O&A, followed by music.

I don't remember if it was Opie or Anthony that said this, but they did say "those two".
My first thought was Mike & the Mad Dog when I heard that. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned that yet.

My reasoning for saying it would help Infinity was only for NY. Most syndicated cities already have them on the same station for a reason. It's foolish to have two top talk shows on different stations owned by the same company.

Stern is huge, but is all talk on a rock station. O&A are big, but besides them the ratings for that station are struggling. The guys have been talking about seeing all sorts of albums on the walls now, which would lead one to believe that their might be another format change in store for WNEW. It would make a hell of a lot of business sense to put O&A and Stern on in the same station. Also, when Stern quits in a couple years as he's stated, it would pave the way for O&A to just move into his slot on the same station

Why would O&A moving to K-Rock be bad for Stern? Stern would have visual on the boys at all times, anything they want to do will probably have to go through him first. Stern will never have to worry about going up against the boys in the morning if they move to K-Rock. Any gripes the boys have won't be heard on the air cause Stern will have them silensed. Stern will have won in the end.

Who knows if this is real or not but I think the best chance O&A had to compete with Stern past them by when they didn't negotiate for a morning show.

I might be wrong, but aren't all CBSs stations already in the same building? I remember O&A definitely talking about 1010 WINS being "upstairs" and I think KROCK too.

SYNT, not that it's a big deal, but they usually refer to KRock being across the street. They're definitely not in the same building, though. The real question is....just how far from ground zero are they?
