Enough already, I gave them (D&M) 2 days and I found out there's nothing there! Nothing!
Tim Sabian, you tried too hard to be hip. You come off like a genius adding #1 afternoon in all male demographics, O&A show. Howard of course #1 in the morning. But stop messing with the line-up once you have a winning formula. Now it's overkill, and a bad overkill at that!
D&M are not funny, they added 5 minutes of farting noises to Monica Lewinskys HBO special, Jesus, I almost wanted to jump from my office building to end it. They giggle at themselves. They cannot do voices. Here's a hint, when they can make a reference to someone they worked with in radio over 25 years ago, clue....., they are likely over the hill and Howard's nor O&A's males are gonna relate to their non-humorous garbage. I thought, first day in an important new city, they would have their "A" game in place, if that was an example, I'll tell ya WMMR & KYW-1060am will pummel WYSP in the midday Arbitrons.
Either tank the 4 hours or buy out their contract and send D&M packing. Please don't subject us to 2 years of this rubbish.
Just let Op & Ant do their show! Meetings during on the air shows are bordering on college radio antics.

i agree completely. it's completely ridiculous for them to let talk dominate all damn day, mmr's gonna wipe the floor with them. thos two fuckwads are NOT at ALL funny, just plain stupid.

the message is there is no message. one million souls tossing down their hard earned lettuce for a piece of the hot rock indie alternative pie. i've sold out. how about you? everybody's doing it, even if they say they are not. don't ask me cause i don't know. rock saves. it's the next big thing. have you heard the next big thing? i'm part of the revolution. it's all coming down soon. hope you're there.

to be fair, everyone was saying the exact same thing when O&A showed up in Philly. I'm not saying that you have to like D&M, but it takes a while to figure out what's going on with a show.

And...uh...I think farting is pretty freakin' funny. I just farted right now. Hudla hudla.

At least with O&A there were others calling up to say give them a chance. Those two fat F-tards couldn't be funny if they had Dennis miller's writers helping them (oh wait that could be worse)
Take a lesson from NY- faithfully O&A listener since june 2000- keep music to lead in O&A

Too much talk equals no ratings!!

AND REMEMBER O&A ALWAYS WIN IN THE END

I think the difference is that D&M are much more hit-or-miss than O&A. O&A are better at sucking you in and making you want to listen for 4 hours straight (which btw is hell on me getting shit done). I tune outD&M a lot more often...like when Don starts talking to his mother-in-law...but they have some legitimately funny bits. I like Mike's Low-Budget Jeopardy voices, for example.

Before adding Don and Mike to mid-days, was YSP playing K-Rock type music? Is there another station in the area that also plays that kind of music as well? If so, I doubt Don and Mike will do very well at all....not like I care.

Not everyone in the O&A target demo like all-talk stations. Splitting up the day with stern-music-O&A-music allows many to never even change the station.

The D&M target demo is not the same as O&A. So it is a safe assumption that many YSP listeners will now be turning off the station. What if they don't come back?

It took O&A 1 book to achieve their goal in Philly. For their sake, I hope D&M do well in philly so they get the leadin.

But it does seem rediculous that a station has talk m-f until 7 pm and then music from 7-6. What's the f'in point? Might as well put R&F live in philly too.

See that move would actually make more sense the Don & Mike moving. That's why it didn't happen.

T found this message at D&M Fan site. Sounds legit enough (included writer credit) but could also be bullshit. Still, thought this thread would find it interesting. Enjoy:

Why Don & Mike are even on in Philly on WYSP FM (Daniel Humire, 3/6/2002 12:45:00 AM)

Generally, syndication deals happen to radio shows that show genuine ratings growth in at least one major market and several smaller local markets. This is how O&A eventually got syndicated, and since their home market was the biggest and toughest market to tackle, their syndication deal was extremely aggressive (were put into several top markets: Philly, Boston, DC, Chicago almost simultaneously). D&M on the other hand, did show some ratings growth several years ago in several test markets (when they were the Morning Zoo), but their syndication deals were shot dead in the water by several political maneuvers by Howard Stern who was becoming the biggest thing in radio at the time. This is the main reason why D&M hate Stern so much.

Now, several years later, a new act from NY has begun to pick up steam and has been able to challenge Stern's once neigh-invincible NY fan base. When Ken Stevens told D&M that they were getting bumped to make room for O&A, they quit JFK in protest. Stevens, in order not to lose a solid ratings draw in DC, made certain promises and agreements to keep D&M at JFK. These promises basically entailed a "piggy back" approach toward giving D&M the major syndication deal they had dreamt of for 16 years. Stevens has never really believed that D&M could have worked as a national act, or else he would have given them a syndication deal years ago long before O&A came into DC since Stevens has been GM of WNEW, WYSP and WJFK for many years now. However there was fallout from when O&A and D&M clashed for the first time when D&M got bumped from afternoons. Since then O&A and D&M have been at odds with each other. The rest of WNEW's jocks played along with D&M (Ron & Fez, Sports Guys) but D&M still failed miserably in their big city debut – which is no surprise since there was never any indication given that they would do well in NY or in any other major market for that matter. However, they still had a syndication agreement to be put on in Philadelphia, one of the top five markets in the country. So D&M, who believe that they deserved the syndication 'push', held Stevens and Infinity to their word and with the help of long-time Mike Sorce pal and WYSP PD, Tim Savien, got put on Philly radio for the first time ever this week. So in essence, D&M didn't really earn any syndication deal like most radio shows do, but more or less negotiated a deal in order to allow Stevens to retain D&M on WJFK while have O&A on as well. D&M have never succeeded in any of the top 5 markets that they have been placed in besides from DC – their home market of 16 years. As Don himself explained once on-air, shows get syndication expansion based on how they perform in the MAJOR MARKETS, and Philly is the biggest market outside of NY and LA and Chicago. D&M already failed in one of these markets (the biggest one actually), so in essence logic dictates that they shouldn't get any major market expansion. But that's how Mike Sorce trapped Stevens, since Stevens and Infinity signed a contract guaranteeing D&M a shot at Philly. So basically D&M's whole syndication expansion is really a clever ruse, since it is not based on any real growth in popularity but on political maneuvering on Mike Sorce's behalf. This is why 'Don Geronimo' won't address the O&A feud on-air, because he knows that this whole syndication expansion plan isn't based on any actual popularity growth, but on a contractual agreement. O&A on the other hand have a real nationwide fan base and have proven success (and modest failures) in various major markets. If 3 months from now O&A’s DC ratings have broken them into the top 10 in afternoon drive in the 18-24 demo (they’re supposedly at 12th place since the last 3-month rolling avg), and D&M are still pulling a 0.8 in midday in NY, expect the D&M expansion to halt abruptly and suffer the ‘Mark & Brian’ effect (where you rapidly lose affiliates).

Don and Mike play fart noises all the time. They also examine dog poop as a bit. The only time that Don and Mike are funny is when Mike is doing his impressions. It is very easy to make me laugh out loud, and Don and Mike rarely do it for me. Opie and Anthony are funny. It isn't just their bits, it's their comments as well. I think "poop" quit being funny in the 5th grade when I first started listening to Don and Mike :)

I just don't get it. These two numbskulls don't seem to have a clue for one. In no way do they appear to appeal to YSP's target audience. Now they're complaining about O&A picking on them. I'll try anything once, but I think once is enough with these morons......

WYSP is already not happy with the changeover. No one is going to admit it publically without being anonymous. It wasn't their call, as correctly pointed out. They were obligated by Ken Stevens' contract negotiation with D&M.

Don and Mike are floating on a raft that has about 1 month of usage. They didn't start off very well.

Hey FeelMyFunBags,

Yes, they were playing rock hosted by their top DJ, Couzin Ed (top meaning most utilized, plugged, etc). And yes, there is a direct competitor, although the format is slightly different. 93.3 WMMR plays rock with a touch of alternative and classic mixed in. 94WYSP is strictly current rock and new rock.
