Its scary because my mom used to listen and got me started. I think I was in 11th grade.

It's true.

I was living on L.I. back then and Opie was the only tolerable D.J. on WBAB.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not fighting to uphold the restraints that give protection to rights fully accrued upon facts so nearly permanent as to be substantially impervious to change, rather I am for the supervision of changing conduct or conditions and are thus provisional or tentative.

As for a classic rock station WBAB is the only station we have out here.

Opie was good, he actually had a following and had someone steal Joey Buttafuoco's Christmas Tree one night, if anyone remembers that, it was pretty funny.

And he really played requests.

Opie's description of how new listeners respond to the show definitely reminded me of WBAB. I used to listen to WBAB when I could get it (since I was living in Brooklyn), and when I heard some of Opie's bits I definitely did a "This is not what I'm used to". I'd tune in occasionally after, but not regularly. When they came to WNEW I still couldn't make up my mind about them, but if you give them a while (or at least 20 min), they definitely grow on you.
