| Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02  | Thoughts to what kind of format WNEW should switch to? I think the station should switch Ron and Fez to midday, keep O&A on afternoons, and then play hard rock and metal like the shows Eddie Trunk plays. No stations in the NY area plays stuff like Sabbath, Priest, Slayer and Maiden. That kind of music has its place. It's ridiculous to have a toilet for every nation!!! | ||||

Who cares about what the other shows are doing, how well they're doing, or what time they are doing it. O and A won't be switching time slots anytime soon, and at worst they'll switch stations Monkeys on Mars, coming to a screen near you | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | You do know that the station is important to the show, right? The station promotes it, decides if it can do bits, leads in, etc. O&A's happiness depends on management and people they work with including the other shows. The station is important to the show. For me, I think that Ferrell has potential, Don and Mike don't, O&A and R&F definitely have the IT Factor. And Eddie Trunk should have a following, he really does offer music you won't hear on any other station. So w/ F, OA, and RF you have a starting point. The important thing for everyone to realize is that HOWARD STERN WILL NEVER COME TO WNEW EVER!!!!!!!!!!! With that known we can discuss the future of WNEW logically. One of the biggest problems with WNEW is the weekends. If you're looking at a station's whole a weekend's rating is 2/7 of its ratings. Does WNEW have anything worth listening to on the weekends aside from Trunk? Saturdays it's best of of the previous week so it's not important to listen to unless you like the show and there's no hope for a new audience since each show plays at the same time. Sundays it's INFOMERCIALS!!!!! Loveline probably doesn't pull much ratings and there is no doubt that if Live Don and Mike pulls little ratings, 3 am-5 am Don and Mike proabbly pulls a nothing as well. I'm not saying that anything will necessarily pull in major ratings from like 2-5 but if R&F replay was on like it used to be I'd listen and I'm not sure if that would help but I'm selfish and I'd enjoy it. Mornings- WNEW has no hope for mornings. Stern will dominate that market until he goes off the air, he has put it in his contract that he won't lose face 6-11. Say what you will whether he's downhill, whatever, he will still maintain the top for the demographics WNEW wants there. He's an icon in the industry and there is nothing I can forsee him doing that will cause such a mass exodus from that show. Ferrell fits here because sports is really a morning thing I guess but... Middays- get rid of Don and Mike, Ferrell might be better off here. Sports won't change much in the couple of hours since and he has the ability to get people through the day. Also, it would put him in closer proximity to O&A and since O&A like him it really would benefit both. Afternoons- O&A. Evenings- Ron and Fez. Late Nights (11 pm -3 pm) - either keep LoveLine since that might have a few fans, try for a new Talk Duo or, best case scenerio, see if Trunk will do a weekly thing. Ferrell and O&A work well together, O&A and R&F work well together, Trunk and R&F work well together. Each following show are friends with the previous show and it ties together in a really nice package. 3-5- Maybe a best of O&A or R&F or change things around with a different best of ever half hour or so. Weekends- well that's an entirely different sitution. They need to restructure the entire weekend plan, hire new people, create new shows, etc. "It appears my wee wee has been strucken with rigor mortis." | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 02 | Here's what I see regarding the format, if they choose to go back to music. 1) Infinity pushes K Rock to a harder sounding station. (True Active Rock, Lots of Nu-Metal) According to Radio and Records, WXRK is still considered alternative. Then, WNEW flips to modern rock (alternative). The format isn't very profitable anymore, but if they position it really well, they could pull off a 2.0. Artists would very from Coldplay, Garbage, and U2 to Stroke, White Stripes, and Fuel. We'll see what happens. I'm probably wrong... Later guys | ||||

Now shes with some old zero doing miserable radio. Bring her back and fit her in someway. What they need are some new shows. It doesnt seem like it takes much to have a radio show anyways. You need one guy that does radio, a comedian, and an impressionist. Ferral needs a partner, like a comedian like Rich Vos that would make the show great. | ||||
