Psychopath Registered: Jan. 02 ![]() | Ahhh, you guys disappoint me. I was all ready to jump into a Newstead discussion, but there were none :( Personally, I thought the interview was kick ass. O&A asked the questions we wanted to know and he was very open and honest. I miss Napster, but fot the first time I see Metallica's point. Kick ass interview!!!! Echobrain seemed cool, too. The thing is that I believe Metallica could do a kick ass album w/o Newstead, but not a tour. He was definatley the link between the fans.![]()

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | I think the Metallica train left Newstead at the station. Whether or not it has enough steam to keep moving without him is anybody's guess. At least Newstead has royalties to look forward to. Tons and tons of royalties, I hope. Use all your well-learned politesse, or I'll lay your soul to waste. All right, children. Let's all point and laugh.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | Metallica died after "And Justice For All". The "Black" album was ok, but, they've made a steady decline in their music since then. I still enjoy their music very much, but I miss the "old" Metallica. I'm glad Jason is back in the scene, when he left Metallica, it seemed he was retiring from music alltogether. The boys did a great interview with him, and he was really cool. I'm gonna have to go pick up the CD to check out the rest of their stuff. ![]() Av8er Radio [AIM] [ICQ] [E-Mail]

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | You gotta give respect to him for not trashing the rest of the Metallica guys. Its has always been known that James and Lars are the only opinions that count as far as they are concerned. It has to be frustrating to be in a hugly sucessfull band and get no say what goes into the music. It would piss me off if I was not allowed to do side projects but then hear James on other bands songs. I hope he doesnt go back, Metallica are dead, lets not try to revive them, only to be dissapointed in another crappy cd.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | I'm listening to the interview replay(thanks SU). While I agree with Jasons comments on napster/file sharing on some level, as long as companies are pricing cds for $15-20, people arent going to buy a cd if they arent sure about it. If I download a few or even a whole cds worth of songs and it rocks, i'll go out and buy it. But if it sucks, i'm glad I saved 20 bucks. If I go to a store and see a cd that i'm not sure im gonna like, if its cheap-$10 or less i'll take a chance. But im not going to waste 20 if im not sure.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 ![]() | quote: Ithink he confirmed it when he said that he believes Metallica will be a "studio band" for the next few years. A studio band!!!! Who the hell can picture Metallica, a band that toured longer than anyone imaginable, as strictly a "studio band." That put the nail in the coffin right there (well, that and Garage Inc). ![]()

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | They wont do well as a "studio band". Not that the songs sucked, but there just isnt the intensity on cd as there is in concert. Part of what made the Pre black songs so great was hearing 30,000 people screaming along.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 01 ![]() | I disagree. For the most part I enjoy music that is well produced or studio quality. 90% of the time, bands suck when playing live. And I know Metallica are alledgedly "renowned" for their live performances. I'm sorry but a bunch of white trash nit wits with bad tatoos singing along to a Metallica song does nothing for me. I'd rather listen to the studio recording. ![]() This message was edited by diceisgod on 5-16-02 @ 6:44 PM

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 ![]() | And Justice For All was a shitty album. The Black Album was them slowly getting back to the roots. Load was AWFUL!!! Re-Load was ok, coulda been better. This Echobrain stuff doesn't sound that good. Metallica puts on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Iron Maiden and KISS are the only two I have seen that topped them. Jason didn't have to trash James or Lars at all because he basically said it on the show that they wouldn't bend, and he said it on Behind The Music quote:Nice way of saying they're control freaks. Let's see how they do w/out him. Anyone got suggestions on a replacement??? Best Metallica Album ever?? Ride The Lightning. A heavy dose of reality, with a shot of piss and vinegar I love the kindredbabe, the MamaCaz, the SyKoPaThCHiK, and especially the RF and my little walking Disaster Area!!!!

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | quote: Are you on crack? Justice was probably their best cd. Master a close second. The Black cd getting back to their roots? That's the first cd that sounded different from the rest. It was a lame attempt to get more mainstream fans. They did the smart thing, metal was dying off so they shifted the focus of their sound. The only problem is that they were always a band for the fans. Although they gained MANY fans by going softer, the true fans from the start had a hard time adjusting to the change.

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 ![]() | As far as my opinions on And Justice for All. I really didn't like it. There are maybe 3 or 4 good songs on the album and in MY OPINION that is it. I prefer listening to Ride The Lightning and if given the choice I will listen to that way before Justice. And Shelle, while I would love to meet Jason cause he is one of the best bass players out there, along with Billy Sheehan and Les Claypool. From the clip I heard on the show, I really didn't like what I heard. Will I buy the album, I dunno maybe. O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 01 ![]() | Solo projects just don't work. Especially when you are not nearly as musically talented as your former bandmates. But musicainship isn't always an indication of how well one writes music. Look at 95% of the material put out their by greats such as Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, Slash. CRAP!!! Echobrain as far as I can tell sound rather ordinary. Nothing really special going on there. He'll be able to scrape a living together because of his association with Metallica. Not that he needs to or anything. ![]()

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 ![]() | quote: You are either a retard or ignorant. The best Metallica albums were pre-Black with Black being the last tolerable album. Everything after that was streamlined radio crap. The thing that killed them was producer Bob Rock. His "idea's" drove them on to the airways and into the ground. quote: Dear God, I agree with DIG. I was so disappointed in Echobrain. I figured Jason left the band 'cuz the music turned weak. Instead, Echobrain is soft, mainstream and shows about as much innovation as Nick at Night.
