I tuned into 0&A when they took my rock station away (102.7 used to play rock?). They've grown on my and I've become a loyal listener and listen every day. I enjoy 95% of what they do. Are there times that I think to myself, "This bit sucks" or "What the hell are they thinking"? Sure. I've listened to Don and Mike since they came on the the air on WNEW. Mostly because I liked O&A and R&F.com and left my radio on that station. Every day, I listen to Don and Mike on my lunch break, and whenever I go out into the warehouse. I like about 30% of what they do. The other 70% of the time that I listen, I listen to it because there is nothing else on the radio. This radio show war shit is fucking retarded. Who gives a fuck what the other show's ratings are? (hoo hoo I invented ratings) THEY'RE NOT COMPETING!!!!! DIFFERENT FUCKING TIMESLOTS!!! What we should be doing is ganging up on Philadelphia :-D Pro O&A people have gotten a little carried away, but the first Pro-D&M posts smacked of Zombism (yeah, I created a word - so what?) The truth of the matter as I see it is D&M are more traditional broadcasters and their show reflects that - that is why their demo is probably older. O&A try to be more unconventional, and their show reflects them. They don't pretend to be 20 somethings, but they are probably more comfortable with them than the 40+ crowd. That doesn't mean they are "pretending"; it's just the way they are. Don came off as desperate when he called in to O&A. These are undisputed facts: NY is a larger radio market than DC. Like it or not. D&M were moved out of the prime afternoon drive so that O&A could be moved in. D&M have horrible ratings in NY - possibly because they don't fit in with the rest of the station's demographics. D&M have had a much longer chance to reach an audience in NY than O&A have had in DC. You like D&M - fine - listen. That doesn't change the facts, and it doesn't give Don the right to make up stuff (the pretending to be younger stuff, the R&F stuff, etc.) Spin ratings - I've got news for you, everyone spins ratings to look good. In the end if the company thought D&M were more valuable than O&A then their time slots would be reversed - plain and simple.
