I'm smaat!
While the rest of the mods on here have calmed down over the last few months, one (Me!) has risen to the top of his class - with banning, and holding grudges, and being a whiney little BITCH (Me, Buttmunch!!!11!). (Look at how much I get under this guy's skin!)

Website, that is...

www.wnew.com

Has anyone else noticed the redesign that is going
on over the weekend? Nothing groundbreaking (the
YSP site is still better), but still an
improvement over what was there.

The design company that did the job is actually
pretty unimaginative - all of their clients are
media-based or has-been rock bands, and all their
pages look pretty much the same. Slow to load too
over a modem, which is a pisser.

I can't believe that Infinity couldn't have found
$10,000 to hire someone to do something really
amazing with Flash, CF or ASP - the more I think
of it, the more I realized that they wasted an
excellent opportunity.

Hell, I know there are some talented web people
here - why didn't someone offer some pro-bono work
and create a REALLY kick ass site?!

Anyway, it is better than the old one - that is
(at least) something.

The picture of Leah is hot - even if they
eventually get rid of D&M they should at least
keep that picture up there.

Maybe 'cause we wanted the $10k?

Programmers dont do pro-bono sites for radio stations. The sad thing is, the company doing it, IS probably getting 10K. Sad but true and I see ALL the time.

If the profile is high enough then they might;
last year we got some sweet ColdFusion programming
pro-bono from one of the top DC firms, in exchange
for nothing! They just wanted to be associated
with the project, which did generate a lot of
attention when it launched last summer.

A radio station that may not be around a year from
now, though...well...that's another story, and you
may be right.

The really sad thing is that they might have
gotten much, much more than $10K, which just
sucks because we've out-sourced so much better for
less.

Agreed that it gets overused by people who have no bid-ness using it.

In moderation Flash can be really effective, though - each show could have a lil' Flash movie up in the corner of the screen - it doesn't have to be all the time; something the listener could click on to start.

Beats the hell out of the damn animated gifs!

I was thinking about it, but, as usual, that rat bastard, FTL, would have just taken ALL the credit.

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

FTL takes unemployment benefits, why shouldn't he take the credit as well?

They should have let the guys from Foundry Music do it. It would have been better than it is now. And if you are stupid enough to try to find Don and Mike stuff, you would not be able to find your way out.
