| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 01 | Aside from the fact that Patty (who actually has two college degrees) is annoying and a cling-on to Opie for the past three or four years, she's still a person and I think, if they really wanted to do away with her, they would have a long time ago. With her living under the stairs in the studio, I wonder if management came down with a liability issue and told Opie to get her out of there for good. If she was injured or harmed while on Infinity premises, she might have a lawsuit against the company. Corporations always look out for themselves-- again, it's just a theory I was thinking of. As far as how it was handled, I didn't think they needed to be so cruel. However, as we all know, for the interest of the show, they had to raise the bar. I can't get that last scream out of my head or Steve C.'s words to her as she screamed that everyone was looking at her... "That's what they do". According to Ron and Fez later that night, the wig was in an office, so I don't think that Patty was given back the wig. Cruel and riveting radio. They've reached a new plateau. | Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 02 | Good call TeenWeek. Anyway as mean as it sounded yesterday it had to be done. Seriously she became way to overly obsessed with not only the O&A show, but hung around for all of the shows. What kind of life would she have led if they let her hang around?? They brought her in, so they are the ones responsible for breaking it off. Sometimes you have to be harsh to break something off. It's kinda like the girl who becomes to clingy, and makes you feel uncomfortable. You have to do something f'ed up to end it. They have done more then enough to help her out. There goal was to get her to hate them, so she can move on. Obviously if it wasn't done sooner or later she would become more and more of a leach. She has to grow up and become her own now. Like Opie said, tough love. Notice while the whole thing was going on they even said themselves they would like to hear from her in the future saying she got her life on track. They gave her a kick in the ass now see what she could do with it. | ||||

Personally, I don't think she is as retarded as people say she is. She held a job and had a place to stay. Not many retards can say that. Shitty job, shitty place, but she did it. Her obsession with the show killed her. For her, it was all about O&A. And they helped fix her up somewhat. But she always came back, looking for handouts. She was a BIT, not a friend. They used her for laughs, and they have said so in the past in no uncertain terms. She says she has some offers for places to stay, yet she goes nowhere, sleeping on a couch in the WNEW stairwell. A very kind and generous member of this board let Patty spend a few nights at her house, on several occassions. The next time Patty was on the air, no Thank You, no I Appreciate It, nothing. Ungrateful bitch. If they told her kindly that she wasn't welcome, then she would have taken it as a joke or a bit and shown up later. I hope they are serious when they claimed they wanted to cut her loose. Because no matter how cruel or unjust it sounded, it was for her own good. | ||||

He believes that they did this to try to get stalker patty to go the extra mile and lose her virginity on the air. If they figured that she would do just about anything for the show perhaps this was an option. THe virginity thing was brought up right before they kicked her to the curb. Not my theory- it makes a little sense but is a little too twisted even for Opie. | ||||

Secondly, I'm not sure how the building is zoned...however I'm pretty sure, using it as a "dwelling" is most probably illegal. Finally, it IS for her own good. In her history of the show, she's been given TONS of handouts...including places to live. Patty HAS been used by O&A for years, and in exchange, she has been given VARIOUS gifts (surgery being the largest). And in my eyes, they at LEAST had the heart to be HONEST with her...even when they've said they USED her to make good radio...EVEN TO THE END. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:  | ||||

But when Rick grabbed the wig and I heard her screaming it was shameful thing to listen to. That had to be the most disturbing thing Ive ever heard. I was fine with it until the end (when Anthony realized it had gone horribly wrong) and Opie sicked his "butt-boy attack dog", Ric, on the helpless, fragile retard. It was tough love up until this point but got very disturbing after that. Patty is an annoying pathetic little troll, but nobody deserved to be crushed like that. The boys and the O&A zealots can spin it anyway they want, but after hearing that, the show won't be the same for me anymore. The Godfather/Wig references sounded so lame yesterday. | ||||
