For all of you unfamiliar with the new integrated chat room, Foundry Music and Opieanthony.com share a common chat room platform that is accessible only to members of either site. To access the chat room, you must first register, then log-in. A chat room link will appear only after you have successfully logged in. After clicking on the chat room link, take a moment to read through the guidelines, making sure you've downloaded the necessary software updates. After that, click the redirect link at the bottom of the page, and give the chat room a moment to load. OA Message Board members will have a unique identifer in front of thier username in the form of: OA (username). In other words, if your username was IAMANTHONY, your chat room username will read as following: OA IAMANTHONY. Foundry Music members will just have thier username appear. This OA prefix is used to prevent duplicate usernames from logging in at the same time.

One quick word on guidelines: the same rules apply to the chat room as they do on the message board. SPAMMING is prohibited, and do your best to maintain some semblance of self control. Moderators can punt you from the room, but they can also block your access completely forever if they so choose. Moderators are identified by thier chat room avatars, either the Foundry Music (black and yellow FM), Ron & Fez Baby (pink background white letters spelling BABY), or Opie Anthony mod (lighting background, OA lettering in red).

It's just another feature to bring us all a little closer together. Whether or not that's a good thing is a topic for debate in another thread.

Enjoy.

Try not to download too much. Steve can't afford it.

Just wanted to add that the new chat works well on the Mac and Netscape. No more Explorer and Itel-based operating system required. Right on!

Great feature Jeff. I love it now that we don't have to leave the board and sign on to the Foundry site if we want to chat. This way we have the best of both worlds at the same time.
Thanks dude. :)

The chat link will not appear until you log in. Once you have logged in it will appear as a text link under the big Opie Anthony banner on the top of your screen. It is between the FAQ and Sign Out link.

I would propose a larger button someplace here on the site to click that will go to chat.

The problem is you are using a Mac. Everyone knows a Mac can look pretty but actually do something. Hehe, cmon.

Just kidding pal. Wish I could help but I don't have a Mac anymore. Make sure you have downloaded the Java JRE. You can't run Java apps without it.

Java don't care if you are on a PC or a Mac so it shouldn't matter what kind of computer you are on. Java works on anything with a Java runtime engine installed on it.

Skutt:
The chat worked fine on my mac. It eats up alot of RAM (I had AIM, IE, and the Chat running and I couldn't pull up any IE windows cause of lack of memory-I have 192 ram and can usually run almost all my programs at once). I use IE 5 on a 400mhz G3 iMac DV. Check your java settings too, cause the chat is an applet I guess...

The chat WILL NOT work if you are behind a firewall.

I actually just called someone that i know in our tech support department at work, and if you are at work and behind a firewall , then you can not load or use the java chat feature that the chat site uses.

If you are blocked by firewall, contact me on Yahoo Messenger at AntDeRosa for an alternate chat.

Yahoo Messenger is firewall proof. You can download it and join chatroom "O&A" in the Entertainment and Arts section.

I prefer Foundry Chat but at work I just can't get to it.
