O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01	We have all long been aware of the increasing "Stalker Epidemic" permeating on the O&A show. No doubt, we have all issued collective groans and "Oh, no, not this crap again" whenever Opie or Anthony mention any of the following names on the air: Stalker Patty Lady Di and/or Marion (aka the "Retarded Laverne and Shirley") Limo Bus Driver Anthony "The Most Handsome Diamond Dice" Clay (OK, I'm kinda joking on this last one-- at least HE'S funny) And yet again and again, the boys actually give them airtime, and the question remains... "Why"? Opie has said it is because he likes to piss the listeners off, but would he really want to do it at the risk of losing whatever sanity he retained from his troubled youth? Sure, he loves it when Lady Di is there, because she'll only bother Anthony. Get Stalker Patty or Limo Ant in the studio, however, and you can practically feel him cringing through the radio as they proceed to drive him to violence with their incessant yapping. And worse yet are the "stalkers" themselves. For the average Joe Listener, simply enjoying the show, or even being live at a Road Show or an "XFL Gameday" taping and sharing a few moments with the boys is fun-- but we know our place and our limitations. Opie and Anthony are the radio personalities, and at the end of their shift, or their TV taping, they return to their normal everyday lives that we are NOT supposed to be privy to unless they feel like sharing such details. But for the stalker, the little switch in the brains that is supposed to help them differentiate between the "reality" of radio versus the "actuality" of life isn't working. The stalkers seek to push past the boundary that exists between personality and audience, and to somehow become a part of both of O&A's existences, public and private. For example: an average listener, upon meeting either Opie or Anthony on the street, would probably engage in a brief "Hello, how's it going?" or "Great show-- can I get a picture/autograph?", and then move on, telling their friends later that they got to meet someone famous. A stalker, however, would try to corner them and strike up a long-winded conversation, asking invasive questions not unlike those heard during the Nuremberg Trial, and all the while feeding the boys useless information about their equally useless stalker lives, as if any of it really matters in the grand design of the universe. But it comes back to the initial question: "Why"? Why do they continually get airtime? The stalkers were all good for a laugh in the past, but it has become old hat. The best way to get them to finally, ABSOLUTELY understand that they are not welcome is to cut off all communication with them. Stalker Patty is upstairs visiting her "friend" at WINS? Don't mention that she's there. And certainly don't patch her inevitable call through to the studio. Lady Di, Marion, or Limo Ant want to be in studio? Lock the door, lower the blinds, and stare at the building next door for showering hotties if necessary, BUT THEY MUST NOT GET IN. And if they show up at road shows or other outside events... well, let us put them back in their place. The "Stalker Epidemic" needs to be eradicated, and soon...before it's too late. I'll get off my soap box now. ("Earl, comment?") Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01	Well the title did say "A Commentary", so you should have known it wasn't going to be: "I hate stalkers. Want them gone. I'm done." And the point is , Psycho Mark made it great radio today, because he is hilarious. He would have been funny even if the Retarded Laverne and Shirley weren't there. If left to their own devices, these stalkers have nothing worthwhile to add to the show-- how many times can you goof on the lonely defenseless retards in the schoolyard before it grows tiresome and you want to find fresh targets? And to Mobyworm: Tolstoy is still pretty well known for his work, so I suppose writing long-winded narratives every now and again can be something of a good thing.
