Official Contest Rules – “O&A Survivor Get-A-Way”

How to Enter the Contest.

a) The O&A Survivor Get Away contest will begin on April 26, 2001 and end on May 2, 2001.

b) Each day – beginning on April 26, ending on May2. CBS-2 in New York will air a clue, featuring Opie & Anthony. The video clue will air on CBS-2 between 6 am – 7 am. Listeners who have seen that day’s clue will be asked to call in to the Opie and Anthony show – which airs weekdays between 3 pm – 7 pm on 102.7 FM WNEW. Opie & Anthony will chose one (1) caller to restate the clue that was aired on CBS-2 that morning. If correctly restated, the caller will qualify to participate in the contest finals. Opie and Anthony and CBS-2 will air five clues, qualifying 5 people (one per day) between April 26, 2001 and May 2, 2001.

c) The contest finals will feature the five (5) qualifiers. Finals will be held on the Opie & Anthony show on May 2, between 3 pm – 7 pm. Opie & Anthony with ask the finalists a series of questions dealing with the television show, Survivor. The qualifier that answers the most questions correctly will win the grand prize.

d) Entries that do not comply with the law will not be eligible for consideration. Station is not responsible for entries or proposed entries that break any existing laws. Station is not responsible for lost, stolen, mangles, misdelivered, illegible or untimely entries. Station is not responsible for telephone service outages/delays, muffled, or incomplete phone calls.

e) All entries/contestant photographs (either real or digital) become property of WNEW and can be used by WNEW for any purpose including promotion of the station without further compensation to entrant. No entries will be returned.

Prizes

a) Grand Prize Winner will receive r/t from JFK Airport. Airfare, hotel, ground transportation, meal voucher and $200 included. Total prize value is $4,000. No purchase necessary. 21 or older. US Residents only.

Selection of Winners

b) Winner will be announced on-air during the Opie and Anthony program on May 2, 2001.

Although most of the general public has been led to believe Mr. Brownstone is about some of the band members' heroin addictions (mainly from the disinformation provided by the band in order to garner street cred), the song is actually about Mr. Frank Brownstone, the head instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Los Angeles. In the late 80s, Rose was a student of Brownstone's (who do you think taught Rose his snakelike hip-swiveling?). Apparently, Rose did not pay Brownstone for the lessons. This song is about Brownstone's constant, yet futile, attempts at reimbursement.
