O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	I am posting a new topic because this appears to be real news and some of the other threads were getting a little off the topic. Radioink website: Visit this Website (6/4/2001) Opie & Anthony Air Contract Dispute With Mel In The Media. Report Says The Team Wants A Morning Show. The word on the streets of Manhattan is that Opie & Anthony want a morning show, and they are using it as leverage against Infinity, who airs the duo in the afternoons on WNEW in New York City. If true, this puts Infinity in an odd position. Even though they air in the afternoon, the team already battles with Howard Stern, Infinity's biggest star, who airs on K-ROCK in New York. Stern claims the duo is doing his schtick, and he's not happy his company allows this to happen. Opie & Anthony have been barred from talking about Stern. M-Street's Tom Taylor is reporting that Clear Channel is willing to give Opie & Anthony a morning gig. Clear Channel also owns Premiere, and it is a goal of Opie & Anthony to be syndicated. Yaylor also says Greater Media is a player for the duo. Last week, the duo aired some of their dirty laundry. Opie said, "It's not true that we're playing games, like some are saying. I'm sick of this crap and would leave tomorrow if I could. We've been carrying the station on our back for a really long time and, quite frankly, the load is getting pretty heavy." Anthony added, "We've been gagged, crapped on, promised things that never materialized. It's just ridiculous."

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	I know everyone knows that Clear Channel is an option. I think it means that the KROCK thing from the dentist could be bullshit and nothing is decided yet. Also who is Greater Media?? This message was edited by TeenWeek on 6-4-01 @ 11:39 AM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	I just looked up Greater Media..... they're pretty small, but they have the Boston connection that Clear Channel is kinda lacking.... Psychopath Registered: May. 01	do my ears deceive me? I could have sworn I just heard a sweeper during ron and fez, going through the programming lineup, and say opie and anthony 'live'...but then ron and fez were on and said they know nothing..so who knows...did anyone else hear that, or did i just hear wrong? ----- Adopted on 5-30-01 by Cluster F
