| Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01  | I guess I'd be giving a little bit away here to say I'm no graduate of the Columbia School of Broadcasting here, but I have a technical question about the show that I was wondering if someone "in the know" could answer for me: How exactly do Opie/Anthony/Rick(?) play the sound effects? What sort of equipment is used, and how do they know where everything is? (is there a button labeled "She's a hoo-ah" right next to the "Be more funny!" button?) Might seem like a silly little question, but I'm a curious sort of guy, and I didn't want to have to see Pat O'Brian host one of his hideous "How'd They Do That" specials to find out! | Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00 | Seeing as how I have no experience in talk radio, other than litening to way too much, I feel over qualified to tell you the answer. They have a little machine that looks a lot like a piano keyboard. different sound efffects can be loaded into the machine (The "template" Anthony is always looking for) creating a liabrary of hundreds of stuff. Thats what most radio shows do, I'm pretty sure thats what O&A do too. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | here is a picture of what anthony and opie use as there sound effects machine. i asked anthony one time and he told me i remembered the name of the company. the machine is called the Instant Replay 2.0. I dunno if this is what he still uses, but there are about 50 keys and a lot of programable time on it. I had seen in old stock footage of talk radio in general (as had been mentioned before) the sort of CasioTone keyboard type deal, but figured that it might be a little limiting. ("And now for my next sound effect... MAMBA!") I'm going to have to run out and get one of those, how cool would that be to have one of those things in your pocket during a casual conversation with, oh, say your boss? Ha!
