i think Norton is funny but only on a sometimes basis not as a regular. His best work is done when he hasn't been there in a while and comes in with one of his wild stories.

I think it was pretty obvious they want Norton on the payroll in some capacity. Especially the allusions to "King" Norris on Stern. That's where the concern is. Why make Norton a regular?

Are they concerned about those occasional slow periods on the show? We've all heard a couple of days where the show just wasn't the "A" material. Maybe they think Norton will eliminate those slumps. Just hope they aren't playing into the "You're just a bunch of Stern Clones" Fan Club.

But, hey, the guys know a lot more about the business than I do so I'll trust them to do the right thing...uhhh...I mean that's my opinion and they better listen to it or I'll bitch for a week!! Yeah, that's it! LMAO ;)

I was going to bring this up today. I think Norton might be taking on a Jackie type roll. He has been there a lot latley. He hasn't really been saying much, just some vicious statements here and there. Which is fine by me. I think it would be great to have him in full time. The guy is funny with out being annoying or in the way. Perfect fit.

One thing said in "What did I learn" was that Norton's new CD will be called Wiener's And Doughnuts
Maybe this stab at Jackie Martling means something, who knows...maybe it was just a funny joke

I hate trying to read into what they do on that show. They entertain us, and I think they have a pretty good handle on the correct way to do that. If it means hiring Norton in some capacity as a writer, then so be it.

I think we all just get a little tenative when it comes to a change being made in the show we all love. But you gotta realize that the guys behind the mike have controlled the quality product that we enjoy as it is. Their judgement is superior to ours in this situation, and they would not make a decision to hurt their show.
We have to understand that WNEW listeners love these guys and the show they do regardless of whether its a teen orgy, funny show, or a hungover lackluster one. We have come to know and appreciate the total personalities of the boys. But what incentive does a chicago or dallas listener have to listen through a boring couple of breaks or a slow paced show.
It seems like O and A feel they need Norton there to throw out some funny lines and also keep the focus of the show on being funny no matter what kind of debauchery is going down. Norton is ADD control. I would love to see him in on a full time basis.

Would the callers have to come up with some catchy little phrase to greet them though (a la CBC on the chick show)?
NOA , ANO ?

I would rather roll around in broken glass then dip myself in a vat HIV positive semen then call up and refer to them as NOA

Whoa, I just realized how bad that sounds. Sorry guys, been a rough day so far

Norton is great. when the show is a little lacking, he is there to add his hilarious one-liners. i think everything he says is hysterical.

also, he doesn't steal the spotlight from other guests. for example, when jay and ant were doing the bob murphy/harry carrey bit, he just sat back and let them do their thing. i think the addition of him full time would be a great thing.

Sorry Doc, I forgot the sarcasm tags on that NOA comment. It was meant as a shot at the lame "CBC" moniker of the chicks staff.

I thought it (the AIDS / open wound thing) was a Norton-esque comment to make, and thus fitting of the thread

Okay here's the real deal. The Sports Guys were supposed to have 1 million listeners by June 20. They've failed miserably. So, 'NEW has decided to replace them with Norton. The new team called Jim and his Whores stars Jim Norton and The Bush Twins
and will be broadcast live from a different bar each day. God, this is as bad as the O&A contract speculation, but I want them Bush Twins on the Radio

Norton on the pay role would indeed make sense. At night you can hear him doing taped reads for different products.
