Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 01	OK, I guess I'm an F-Tard, cause I can't get this to work. When ever I try to open this location with Winamp (http://members.aol.com/ciscoopa/camaro.m3u) I get: connecting to host... (tries to retrieve playlist) then... cannot connect to host. Then it gives me a choice of closing it myself, or it does it automatically in 5 seconds. I'm at work in Princeton, NJ, on a T1, so banwidth isn't an issue. I can get Real Media and Yahoo player feeds with no problems. What's the deal? allyourbasearebelongtous I'm working on the sig pic... O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	did you even read the first post? You don't open it through winamp. It's a weblink that automatically starts up winamp. Follow the (apparantly not)idiot-proof directions. Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 01	Sorry, I forgot to mention I tried that. When I do, it says there is no application affliated with *.m3u files (even though winamp is). It doesn't make any difference if it's a shortcut, or if I tell it to open the location with winamp, as they accomplish the same damn thing. If I type in the URL directly to IE 5.5 it downloads the playlist to Winamp, and it says it can't connect to the server. I'll try it at home. It's possible they are blocking it with a filter. The block a lot of URLs here. allyourbasearebelongtous

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	Reinstall winamp If MSIE says there's nothing associated with M3U files, then something's wrong with your PC. If winamp can't reach the feed but the playlist /IS/ loading, then the ports are probably blocked on the company's firewall. Tough break :( Feed me! Psychopath Registered: Aug. 00	I hear ya, I had to convince my boss I needed a desktop AND a laptop and then I had to convince them to put in a fax line so I could get around my firewall and hook up with a modem through a non-digital phone line... Maybe O&A just want us to prove how much we love them, dontcha think?!?!

Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 01	Just an update if you had the same problem I did with WinAmp at work. I tried opening the location: http://members.aol.com/ciscoopa/camaro.m3u in Real Player, and it WORKS! I don't know why it won't work in WinAmp but it does in RealPlayer. Who cares, it works! All you need to do is open up RealPLayer, click "file" then "Open location". Type in the link above, and it should work. allyourbasearebelongtous

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01	The reason it works in Real Player and not WinAmp is because Real Player seems to configure itself to your firewall automatically while you need to add your proxy server info yourself to WinAmp. If you know the location of your proxy server (or any public proxy server for that matter) you can listen thru WinAmp by following these instructions that West Coast Dave enlightened me with.... 1) Go to options 2) Go to preferences 3) Go to setup 4) Under HTTP proxy, enter your company proxy server address here, usually you can find that info in your browser as well under Tools...Internet Options....Connections....LAN Settings. If that doesnt work, stick to Real Player, I used Real with no problem until I figured out how to setup WinAmp behind firewalls with Dave's help. I just like the WinAmp player better so it was worth the trouble to config it. Hope that helps! ________________ Charcole brickette? Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	FUCK FUCK FUCK I can't win :( I finaly get everything working and cablevision (which i WORK FOR!!) decided to block my modem because I didn't register it (e.g. create an email account). Ugh. Ah well, 30 min on holding and 30 min of telling the "tech support" what to do to FIX my account now has it back and working.
