| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00  | This may be old news, but I finally figured out why Stern calls other radio hosts ripoffs, why he gets Infinity to put a gag order on O&A, and why Stern blackmails guests from appearing on other shows. Simple. The answer is money. I heard the Stern rant against Napster, USENET, sites streaming his show on the 'net, and sites that host MP3s of his show. Basically, if Stern doesn't profit from it, there is no reason for its existance. Stern doesn't want you to share his radio show on Napster (or any other way), because he doesn't profit from it. Stern doesn't want you to hear his show over the Internet because there he doesn't profit from it. Why does Stern call radio hosts ripoffs?? (O&A, Imus, etc)?? They are the competition. O&A are especially dangerous, as they compromise Stern's position as "ruler supreme" of shock talk radio. Stern can't twist Infinity's arm enough if there is somebody else standing there ready to take over his timeslot. Stern doesn't like competition. There is no "let the best show win". Stern wants to be "one and only". That's why he loves to edge the competition out by rhetoric. "Don't listen to anyone else. They are cheap ripoffs!!". I like some of the things I hear on Stern's show. I really dislike how Stern brainwashes his audience (the whole "ripoff" bit). It is sad how love of money has ruined a good show. Howie, isn't $18 million dollars a year enough? How much is enough? At what point do you stop thinking about who is ripping you off, and who is sharing MP3s of the show, and concentrate on the show? | Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | Come on, if O&A were in the morning, they would be head to head with Howard in the ratings until Howard finally went off the air. THey would both do very well, and the publicized rivalry they would have would be good for both of them because people would tune into both shows just to hear what each would say about the other. As for Don Imus, he is the most boring, pretentius, pseudo-intelligent piece of coked-up pocket fluff I have ever heard. And to Arthur Dent if he reads this, no offense to pocket fluff. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | This is what happens when you let the fame and the money go to your head. And people wonder why I prefer a raw, make it up as it goes along type of show. Stern is no longer one of us anymore. he's hollywood. let him rot in it. People eventually get tired of the same old bullshit. this is why we have O&A, R&F, The Chick and D&M. Stern has a long way to go if he wants to rule. First, he's gotta get rid of Microsoft, Disney, Sony, and Time-Warner.
