for the life of me -I don't understand what the hell people are going to be MAD at that somebody
tried to HELP. what the fuck is your problem? this just proves that some people will be hateful
and judgemental no matter what is happening in the world.god damn, they just tried to HELP.
what the hell are people's problems with that?

hating people because they're famous..or wealthy..or have some modicum of 'power' or social influence.
shit- they USED their collective celebrity to try to get some MORE money out. and guess what,
it worked. alot of people have already done something and now alot of people will do some more and
when all the celebrities are back in hollywood- THEY will do more and good ol fashioned people will
do MORE.

..but why bash the clebrities for coming together to HELP?????!!

I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE YOU GUYS!!! You are the type that will complain about ANYTHING!!! Oh, I know that I am dying of thirst, but I don't want your tap water; I only drink Evian.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who admires the efforts of the Hollywood community this evening. Everyone has wanted to help; this is the best way that these individuals could have contributed. Would you have wanted them on the bucket brigade or on the pile cutting steel??

Now while you have heard all of these stories of the "Heroes"(as seen on the extensive news coverage), not ALL the areas of this country have! I think that this show helped to bring these stories to the rest of the population & make this tragedy as personal to them as it is for us!!(Much as BEING at Ground Zero, as opposed to seeing it on the news!) Do you remember Oklahoma City? Did it measure up at all to what we(ie New Yorkers) have felt since 9/11?

For the time being until you have stepped up & really made a difference (ie found a way to contribute millions of dollars), why not shut the fuck up & at least not criticize those who HAVE helped. OK?

And to be honest there have been tons of reports of celebrities helping out at the site. Steve Buscemi & Tim Robbins were both down there giving their time. And the night I was there Harvey Keitel walked right by.

if they wanted to make real money they should have had cameron diaz, selma hayak, and julia roberts stand there for the 2 hours taking off an article of clothing for every million they got.

what bothered me most was the quality of celebrities they had answering the phones compared to the quality of celebrities they had speaking. YOU DON'T PUT NICHOLSON AND PACINO AS PHONE ANSWERERS!!!

Pacino was on the phone because he can't speak to a camera these days without randomly screaming.

True as that might be Froy, if you had to hear someone screaming at a camera wouldn't you want it to be Al Pacino?

Ok...there wil be no Clint Eastwood bashing on my watch damnit! As Froy said, the man is an institution. Granted, he did make Bridges of Madison County, but what actor has never taken a bad role? Just ask Bobby D. ...c'mon, Rocky and Bullwinkle? :)

As for the telethon, I often find myself questioning celebs on their political views and their sincerity, but in this case you have to give them credit. They decided to use their talents and recognition to do the right thing. If you didn't care for the show, or felt it was unwarranted, you didn't have to watch it. Did it hurt you that it was on? Do you not have the ability to live and let live?

Currently newbieless...unbelieveable!

You people are absolutley unbelievable. you're complaining because a bunch of famous people donated their time and money to a good cause. But, if they didn't do anything, you'd be complaining about that, too. People just need to always be complaining. If you don't like the idea of a telethon, then don't fucking watch it. But don't take away from those that this may be helping. Just like everyone has said and heard in the past week and a half, everyone has to deal with this in their own way, and if this is THEIR way, then so be it.

Un-FUCKING-believable!

were we watching the same show? i saw people who weren't acting. i saw people who happened to get a big break in life doing something to help people. They weren't "Acting", they were sincere.

and, when i watched the end, i saw a bunch of people--not 'elbowing each other for camera time"--reflecting and being somber. And if they didn't know all the words--so what? i find it VERY hard to believe that most people in this country know the words--it is a long and difficult song

please SHUT THE FUCK UP. stop complaining and for once--be grateful--that this is something that EVERYONE is concerned about. Let each person help in whatever way they can

It's not who you love, but how.

Alyssa & Britney,
I think that some of these guys were just being immature & going back to their usual cynical selves (I hope).

And to those who started the thread, the whole WTC topic shouldn't be tooled on anytime for the near future. There is ALOT of healing that needs to be done, which I hope will occur with time. Now more than ever, please remember Froy's wise admonition: "THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE"!!

With all this said and done, I think Ron & Fez said it best last night that they didn't realize how tragic it was and should give money until a celebrity told them to 11 days later.

BUT...I do think these celebs did the right thing and I believe they were sincere. And what about the ones off camera, on the phones? Brad Pitt could have easily shown his face but instead took calls.

Here's what I'd like to see...I'd like to see the same faces and many more six months from now doing it all over again because as New Yorkers and as a Nation that was sucker-punched and hit hard, it's far from over.

And on a lighter note....Eddie Vedder & Bono...yummy!

Mariah may be hot and all to some guys, but she's an ass. This I know personally. Maybe she should have thought twice to busting up a marriage to advance her career. What goes around comes around. She thinks Tommy Mottola is sabotaging her career? Maybe; I knew him personally at one time as well and wouldn't doubt anything. But life goes on, get over it Mariah and get on with yours. Take your friggin Zoloft and get a real problem! Willie Nelson, the heart of America and she has to upstage and hit a high note and shine...not, that movie rusted before it even hit the air.
