O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00	just read this on nancies.org, the dave matthews band unofficial message board, and it fucking pissed me off quote: As I'm sure everyone knows, the Ticketmaster sales for the two Allstate Arena shows were seriously flawed. I was told by a Ticketmaster Exec this morning that Clear Channel purchased and sold close to 92% of the lower level Allstate tix and sold them all to brokers. This explains why nearly every Ticketmaster outlet could only offer their first customers upper level seats. If you didn't know, Clear Channel is an entertainment firm which monopolizes the live music industry. It owns and operates almost every major live entertainment venue in the continental U.S, and can do with them what they please. Since CC also owns over 1,200 radio stations, they tend to give many seats away to...themselves. Any seats raffled off on-air come straight from CC. By selling the remaining good seats to brokers, CC is able to make twice what they would by selling to the general public. Maybe other people noticed that at 10:15 no one could purchase anything from TM, but at that same time brokers had already listed their seats. The two sites I visited at 10:15 had 36 available seats in EACH section at Allstate. Those added up to close to 1,000 tickets. They were charging upwards of $500 a piece. I love Dave as much as the next guy, but shouldn't he use some of his industry clout to stop doing business with god damn crooks? I urge everyone to write to CC (www.CC.com) and tell them that the fans are what drive this industry, not douche bag entertainment execs. Hanger-On Registered: Dec. 00	Did you know that the WH is dirrectly funded by CC? They basically own the band, and that is why they released that crap they called am album produced by GB. They forced him on the band to make their songs more radio/video friendly (3 min or less). This was in the coming. I am a 4th year member and have always had great luck with tickets (no worse than 10th row on teh floor), but times they are a changing. DMB will be no better than Britney or those boy bands when CC is done withthem. FUCK CLEAR CHANNEL I bet I will soon wish I was still adopted by Fez.

Once upon a time, MSG used to hold back some tickets until the day of the show to cut down on scalpers. Boy, the Times they are a' changin yeah, add on an FU for me - it's bad enought that prices are high from the box office, and that scalpers/brokers work the inside to pull tix; they don't need a corporation joining in this public screwing.
