I hate Bud Selig more than anyone, but I agree witht he decision. All Star Games are EXHIBITIONS!! Not real games. How happy would Lou Pinella have been if this game went a few more innings and his best pitcher Freddy Garcia got hurt.

What is ridiculous is that the game started at 9. Torre and Brenly tried to get all their players in because in the past people have bitched because they did not see their favorite player.

It is a fucking All Star Game. It is meaningless, even to many players (see Pedro and Randy Johnson). I thought it was a pretty good game. Besides baseball is the only sport if you get taken out you are done.

Someone you should be pissed at is Barry Zito who Torre did not want to take in the first place because he pitched on Sunday. The asshole only pitched a third of an inning just so he could get his all star bonus.

There are more important things going in baseball than a stupid tie.

However, they should have picked an MVP from both teams. That was stupid.

Agreed. You would have thought that with all the hype in changing the name to the Ted Willaims award, plus the fact that the tribute to him was less-than-stellar due to recent events (and the fact that his son backed out/was told not to show up) that a co-MVP would've been awarded.

Selig is looking more and more like a blithering idiot as each day passes.

What, you thought Bud Selig actually had a clue what he was doing? After seeing how he fucked up handling an All-Star game, I've lost all confidence in the ability to avoid a strike. Oh well, not like the Mets were going to be in the World Series anyway.

The least he could have done was devise some way to end the game with a winner (ie homerun derby type of thing)... a tie is the worst ending they could have came to.

I think the tie was weak as shit. Between that and the strike, baseball is gonna hurt really bad.

Has Bud Selig ever done anything good for baseball?

And does anyone else think that the moment he dies or steps down, Pete Rose will be in the HOF within a year?

That's why this shit happened last night.

These guys pitching were starters, who happened tio be relievingric last night. THey could pitch, their managers would understand, and put them at the end of the rotation for the week. Selig saying that he doesnt want to risk injury to the players. They risk that playing in the game to begin with. This should be the one game where each league wants to beat the other, no matter what. It shoulda played out till the end. It could have been the greatest thing, having these guys put their heart and soul into winning this one game. Imagine it went to 15 or 16 innings? That would be amazing thing to watch.
