Yeah, I can't figure that one out. Sooooo hard to see the obvious connotation. Does the phrase "right hand man" mean anything to you, dickweed? Are you really that stupid? Or are you differently abled? AP English, sure... You just put your hockey helmet back on, and enjoy that ride home in the little bus.

Giraffe, anything else you'd like us to explain for your book report?

hey Mr. AP English let me run something down for you

Of Mice and Men - 8th grade
To Kill a Mockingbird - 9th Grade
Julius Caesar - 9th Grade
1984 - 9th grade
The Grapes of Wrath - 8th Grade

do we see a trend here or is it just me? when you read some books for grown-ups come back and talk to me

and just in case you were wondering, 99% of high schools in America do Julius Caesar, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, then Hamlet 9-12th grade in that order...fucking tool

is that proper english, even?

Any book can be interpreted in many ways depending on the reader.

I think i have a great status for you enjoy it.
quote:

antony is but a limb of caeser

you can not interpret that without the surrounding context.

all that says to me is that anthony is just a part of ceaser but in what meaning i don't know.

What scares me is that I read most of these books in the 6th and 7th grade. I read Crime and Punishment in the 9th grade..and trust me, after that Shakespeare was a blessing. :)

OK, I'm late to this party, but....

quote:

They want things laid out for them with the answers already there

This is so Goddamn true, its actually sad. We are in the age of "instant gratification", and people don't want to have to try for anything anymore. Sure, I love a good movie, but I really enjoy reading - two people go to a movie, they see the same thing, and take basically the same thing with them after it ends. Two people read a book, and you'll find that the same two people often take different views on it. Keep an open mind, expand it, and you might be surprised what you get.

And I have to agree with everyone as well, he didn't cause you to fail, you did - it's not like he called you up and gave you the wrong answers....

Really? Let me tell you, when I got that book my very first week of high school, all I thought was HELP. After reading it, it wasn't too bad, but I think I would have appreciated it better if I read it my junior year of high school when my brain was a little more mature. My favorite book from high school has to be The Great Gatsby. I don't know if it was the book or my teacher's love for the book that makes me feel this way towards it, but reading that book really makes you see what is wrong with American society as well as the American Dream.

If you really want a challenge, try Kafka. I'd suggest starting with The Trial (High School AP English), as it will give you the best introduction to his style.

And for those of you in hockey helmets, try Dick and Jane at the Seashore. You can giggle every time they mention "Dick." Maybe if you put a WOW sticker on it, some woman will take pity on you and whip 'em out.

i'm in AP English, and we had to read Kafka. we read The Trial and The Metamorphosis. i liked reading Shakespeare better than Kafka.

if you really want to shit your pants, try reading Hippolytus by Euripides. i have to write a term paper on that.

I am in AP english Lit right now, we did Hamlet, which will murder you if you couldn't get caesar. We also did Ellison's Invisible Man, which was alright. I also read lots of ancient philosophy - socrates, plato, aristotle, things like that...that is what actual AP clases usually cover
