If your school does not have these devices you might want to consider petitioning the school board to have them put it. Most importantly...stay safe, and be careful. :)  | ||||

You have a right to feel safe in your schools, and I think there is a law that you can use to prove your point...that is if you are interested in actually fighting for this. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Back when i was a Senior in High School, there was a bomb threat and the school was closed for 2 days in order to perform a full-school sweep. Mind you, this was about 3 weeks after the Columbine Massacre. I enjoyed the free days off, but not at that cost. | Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | Never thought I'd have to give this advice to students in high school, but with the events of late, you may want to keep the following in mind: 1. Know the difference between cover(something a bullet cannot penetrate) and concealment(something between you and the shooter that blocks direct view). If shots ring out, find cover. If no cover, go for concealment. If neither, go in the opposite direction of the shots. Think about where there is cover/concealment every day; don't wait for the shooting to start. 2. Have a plan, rehearse it in your mind, and stick to it. If your school does not have a pre-arranged plan, suggest one be set up. Bring in the local police, your administrators, and your student government. 3. If you are hit, YOU CAN SURVIVE! Gunshot wounds hurt like hell, and can kill, but a positive mental attitude can help you survive. Take a First Aid course, it could save your life or the life of someone you care about. Stay Safe! | ||||
