| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | After reading another article about another Base Ball player, such as Frank Thomas, who refuses to do there job just because they now feel underpaid. He has six years years left on a contract paying him over 9 million a year. Not enough fucking money??? Most of us fans of baseball show up for work 12 months a year for a hell of alot less than 9 million . This is a reacuring theme in baseball I am tired of reading and in the preseason of another possible lock out, I am annoyed. Its not the players like A-Rod and Jeter that ruin the game. Sure they got HUGE contracts but they at least lived out the lenght of the contracts they had. It is shit heads like Sheffield and Frank Thomas who ruin the game. Its rediculous the amount of money these guys want. i would be content playing for 1 million dollar contract over a period of like 6 years. i would be just fine with that. But u know its there agents who r asking for all that money. cuz they get ten percent or more out of the players contracts. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Why limit this to MLB players? There are plenty of players from the world of sports that 'pout' about being underpaid. FUCK THEM, they were happy when they signed the contact because it gave them the financial security they were looking for. I WISH they would be man enough to honor the contract and stop acting like whiny bitches. I WOULD LOVE to see an owner say, you had a SHITTY year - YOU OWE ME A REBATE. I WOULD LOVE the owners to say fine, have it your way and let them try to find this line of 'work' in another country. If there were only ONE year contracts, don't you think players would be busting their butts everyday. The owners have such astronomical profits that they are able to go into bidding wars with each other over guys like manny ramirez and a-rod. The agents and the owners are as much to blame as the players but when people like frank thomas bitch and moan about not getting paid enough when they are multimillionairs, i agree that that sucks and he should be shot and his money distributed among a million homeless people and froy - the prez now makes 400,000/year just in case you were wondering  "Never Underestimate the Power of Stupid People in Large Groups" | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Whats gonna end up happening is that the only people who are going to be at these games are corporate suits - no more dads bringing their sons to the games for that bonding moment, etc - simply because they cannot afford the $200 night that it will cost them! Ticket prices are gonna go through the roof, concession prices as well, etc, all just to pay a whiny player the extra $ he needs to get that custom Ferrari. Look at Knick ticket prices! Sports, as it is in this country, has become so full of the black&white&green, its ridiculous. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | XFL may suck but everyone has to agree that there is one thing that other sports and leagues should adopt, get PAID TO WIN!!. I think all baseball players should get a nice salary, and some nicer than others, but not nearly the multi-million they make now. They should get paid on their stats and to perform though. Kind of like a commision check, but more along the lines as a performance check. As for players who wont live out a contract, I say let them go play for The Atlantic League and join the Bridgeport Bluefish or the Long Island Ducks. Let them see how good they once had it. | ||||

For example one of their players is right in the middle of a game, he'll trade em without thinking twice. The agents r never thinking about the players best interests like they say they r,only their own best interests. The agents r only looking for their 10 or 20%. Its ridiculous! | ||||
