The individuals who were convicted to a death sentence that were later found to be innocent had all been executed prior to the science of dna testing. Infact, their was an individual in Texas who had pleaded with then Governor Bush to perform a DNA test prior to his execution date. His wish was granted by then Governor Bush only to reveal that he was 100% guilty of the crime he committed over a decade ago. His reasoning for asking for the DNA testing, while knowing he was guilty was simply to put it in his words "I doubted they would have been able to find out almost 10 years after the crime". So, please don't try to portray our current President and/or our Government as some kind of heartless individuals with some sort of sick and twisted vengence, because that is simply not the case. If you are not in favor of the Death Penalty then I need to ask you what kind of sentencing do you see for individuals who commit horrible acts of violence? Oh let me guess, we should let them live in a prison for approximately $35,000 a year each on my hard earned tax dollar? Ummm, no thanks. Fry the bastards and use my taxes on social security reform, tax incentives and education instead of a prisoner's cable access and serta mattress. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Apr. 01 | that was 1 incident whereas there have been numerous intances recently where men on death row have been found innocent close to thiere execution dates. as to prisoners having cable t.v. and such. i dont agree with that. however we do need to change our policie on incarceration. as well as punishment it should also be rehabilitation. not for murderers, but others. canada has proven by using these methods that recidivism can be cut in half thereby keeping the violent offenders off the street and lowering the tax burden on its citizens for the upkeep of its prisoners. | Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Ha, there's really no such thing as a "lower tax burden" in Canada, trust me! I suppose I'm sort of qualified to speak to this because I am Canadian, but the left love to use Canada as a shining example of a lot of things. Only problem is they don't quite seem to ever get how things really work. The Canadian "justice" system is a debacle, plain and simple. It's a system wherein at least 80% of the populace want capital punishment, but their Consitituional Monarchy of a government won't provide it to them. There are SO many instances in Canada that illustrate again and again that the bleeding heart / rehabilitation trick just doesn't work (Funny thing, I thought being incarcirated was supposed to be a PUNISHMENT, not an opportunity for rehabilitation). But whatever, that's Canada, and trust me, you don't want to be living there, it's much better here!  Adopted by Rone on 6/6/01 | ||||

Fuck supporting people in prison where they get to work out and watch cable! Humane doesn't fit in this instance because these people weren't warned that they were gonna be killed by a building falling on them or being blown up. Fuck McVeigh and all the anti death penalty pussies everywhere who would quickly change their minds if one of their family members was killed brutally like McVeigh's victims!
