| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | Following up on GS' post the other day I had an interesting idea... It's always been policy not to unban other mod's bannings. Unfortunately most banned users don't know who banned them, so if they ask for a leeway or try to explain themselves, they all too often come to me, or go to the wrong mod. From now on, users can send in their banning appeal to: appeals@opieanthony.com I set up a web-based account with everyone.net for all the mods to use so that when a person bitches to you, there is a forum for them to be directed to, and so there is no more confusion about who can ban or unban what users. Just click the link to check @oa.com mail, the username is obviously 'appeals' the password is 'banned' Let's see if this helps make things run a bit more smoothly. Do we bring him up here in BTS and ask the mod who banned him why he/she did so, and then have a vote? Or is this something that will be totally decided on by froy? | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | This will sound somewhat vague, but I will defer judgment to whoever banned the person, except in special instances... ie: KFC, JMB, etc. If they were given strikes and banned by several mods, it would be a good idea if those parties interested were conferred with. I do not know the situation in which all members were banned, so it would be foolish and arrogant of me to sit here and say who can & cannot be let on, though I will reserve final judgment if someone is unsure what to do, if there is a difference of opinion, or if like I said, the user in question is a special case. If you do check the inbox and there are new mails in there, it wouldn't be a bad idea to post their plea in this thread, so that those who don't check often can come here instead. I've already had a few people, vets and semi-regs alike talk to me about how this seems to indicate that membership here is like gaining access to the stone-cutters In my opinion, if we were to do this differently, I would just clarify the policy with banned members, and how they can contact any mod to discuss their status on the board. While both procedures accomplish the same thing, this one leaves people with the feeling that mods are more important than others. This is merely meant as a way for those who are banned to be sure that they can reach the actual moderator who took action, instead of having to IM or email everyone separately. It seems that nobody has checked it in a while... there was only one new one there & here it be... quote:OK, I didn't ban this one (nor do I know who did) but I don't recall this member being a trouble maker (does anyone know who his "friend" who was banned is?) & It seems that nobody else really had any problems with him... If it's ok with the masses here in BTS, I say we give him another shot... granted, keep an eye on him, but reinstate him nonetheless... that is, unless whoever banned him steps forward and tells a tale of poster gone bad. *edit: and for the record, i replied to his e-mail to let him know that his appeal is being reviewed...
