| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | Okay, I thought of something we could do (or try)... talked it over with Slash, and he's all for it, so I figure I'll throw it to the wolves. Sometimes statuses go wild, we all know that. We probably all, for the most part, know what we changed ourselves, and can figure out who did what sometimes... but the things can get long, making pages more annoying to read. So here's the idea. You may or may not be familiar with the ! tag in HTML.... it's for commenting. It is completely invisible on a page, and only shows up in a View Source. Now, if we were to put these into statuses, we could see who did what to that status. It would make things a lot easier if you want to add something to a status but it would be way too long once it's done. If the tag is there, just go ask whoever put the status there. No hunting down. No ignoring the old status and just adding. If you check out my status, I did a dry run of this.. you'll see <!FTL> in there. Completely invisible to anyone who DOESN'T find it in View Source. Slash and I also came up with an idea that would make it virtually undetectable (to anyone who doesn't know about it, even if they DO View Source).... instead of our names or initials, put numbers. Either numbers we choose, or our member #, just so long as we know whose number = who. It may be an annoying little extra thing to add every time you add to a status, but I dunno, I'm thinking it would make things a little bit easier. Takes out the guesswork... Actually, if we could do this when we banned someone who has a high profile on the board ::hinthintKidAfikahinthint:: that we ban (or, that we unbanned!!!!) that would take out the hunt for who did what as well. The last time that was just pathetic that nobody owned up to it. I just hope we are all adults here and try and remember to do this, as well as use your own #. Besides, if a member is smart enough to figure out who ammended their status, then they'll at least know who to go and bitch to. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I figure even the most tech/HTML-savvy members like Kid or Seph would not even notice it.... you'd have to be looking for it to notice it, really.... This is so we can ask those mods if we can remove it if we feel itis unneccesary. FTL, I can't speak for Seph, but as far as Kid, he as helped me lift many a thing from webpage's view source. Also, av8er's work last night shows how much he looked into the view source to make the Kid is a Mod page. All in all, if they don't know it is there, they won't look for it. Not to be the pessimist but a little while back when i lost it back here, i know, yeah which time. But when there was a few items bought up as to several statuses and who unbanned kid before he was actually supposed to be let back on the board. The person who did it still has not fessed up and I really do not care much at this point BUT if the person or perosons who unbanned kid and who changed a bunch of statuses did not admit to it then. It's not meant to be a "big brother" kind of move to give us the ability to slap someone on the wrist... just so we can know who to ask when we'd like to shorten a huge status like, say, Maynard.
