OK, it is obvious to everyone that there is a Leak in BTS... I know god damn well it is not me... other than that, I know nothing... other than something must be done about it!!!

I'm sure everybody has their own opinions and/or suspicions on who "The Leak" might be, but is it at all possible that there is no actual internal leak? I mean, I try to talk to as many of you as I can on a somewhat regualr basis (yes, even Faceman & Buttmunch periodically) and I would hope that all of us can trust one another with what happens back here to remain back here.

That being said, is it possible that someone may have hacked BTS? A current member? A past Member or possibly even a former Mod?

OK, here's another possibility to consider... I know I have logged onto OA.com from computers other than my own. I frequently sign on from Sluggo's house, but I always un-check the "save password" option...and even if I didn't, I have known Sluggo for years and know him better than to even be any part of this current series of fiascos. Other than Sluggo's, the only other member's computer that I have signed onto this site to, is crx girl/crack hitler's computer. But that was only just this past Saturday. I only checked one BTS thread from there, and no one was reading over my shoulder. I also changed my password before I logged off their computer, just on the off chance that they would be able to retrive my password...not that I think that they would have actually done anything, but I did it as a precaution.

So, I would like to finish by saying, I have made no acusations towards anyone back here...not to say that a few people haven't crossed my mind, but I have not singled out any one person. All I ask for is that each one of you think about the possibilities that I have listed before you decide who you think is leaking information from here.

F'n, we have a better chance of finding Bin Laden, then finding out who the leak in bts is.

Well, I don't go to anyone's house to login to the board, and no one comes to my place to login to the board. I don't even trust myself to save my password.

I don't think that Crack or Crx would do that, but if the password was saved, I couldn't blame them for taking a gander, I know I probably would if I was in their shoes. You changed it before you signed out, and unless someone in her apartment installed keystroke software, I don't think it is an issue. I understand that some people go back to her place after some board parties and post, but even if the password was saved, and they didn't realize it, the people posting there can't lift the password from the sign on screen because it is in asterisks.

I have never shared BTS info, bottom line.

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

What baffles me and pisses me off the most about this whole thing is the leak was cited, and then that person handed the info to Kid, knowing Sean would get pissed off. This was done purposely.

However, I agree with FN that it may be a new path of culprit...but let's take it a step farther. We know that someone once knew a backdoor to get to -1 deleter page...that's what Mavric brought to our attention that got him back on the board a few months ago, when someone emailed(someone mavric did not see before via email). Are these connected???? BTS leak, -1 deleter, DoS attacks, dissension in ranks...coincedental??? An opportunist from the outside who has a grudge???

Instead of keeping within these ranks, or even current members...it maybe someone outside who has grudge. I have my thoughts to someone who hated sean, hated OTL and froy, and is passive/agressive enough to hand -1 deleter to a member construed as enemy, and who isn't on this board, yet connected to few members. And, even if that person isn't to blame, it still seems to me that an outsider is at large here, rather from within.

Unless someone confesses or evidence is shown we are not going to find the leak. We have been dealing with this problem in one shape or another for over a year now, long before most of you were mods this issue arose. So treat it as you will.

We can either go on with life and try to be productive, and make sure that we are careful what we post here, and use IM's if necesary, or we can sit and harp, wonder, and accuse. I'm not trying to downplay the problem, but right now it is quite unsolvable and I'm tired of the paranoia and the rifts it is causing between people.

Sure, I get the BIG picture in what you are saying, but...

quote:

If this is the case, why even have this forum? Might as well make a useful forum out of the space, because if we have to be careful of what we post here, then it is just a "waste of resources." Or at least that is what Steve C would say...

Well, if we think the leak is using one of our accounts, we should all change our passwords.

I checked out the database just to make sure, JUST in case - no one "accidentally" has mod access who shouldn't. That's not the case. It's only the people who should have it.

This whole leak thing is just friggin ridiculous.

OK, I was unaware that this problem goes back that far.

I'd think I may have mentioned this a while ago, but I'll bring it up again... I don't know if it would be to difficult to do for FTL & Slash, but can we change the location of this forum? Give it a new address and only give the link to Current Mods thru e-mail or IM. Make it a seperate page on it's own like we have for the Mod/Admin controls or the Banned Users list... but still have the forum appear on the main page so that we can see when it has been posted to. I don't think it would be that big of a deal for any of us to have to add one more page to our favorites list.

Just a suggestion...

Ever since I saw the hacker program that our IT manager uses to get employees passwords, I have changed my password on OA.com a few times to make it harder if somebody has this program. As far as logging on from different PC’s I am guilt of that, but change my password after that log in.

I like to think there is no leak; maybe conversations happen during events that people overhear. As far as my end, I don’t talk about BTS conversations only to mods on AIM.

I personally think liquidice is selling information to support his steroid use and a new system for his car.

I think seans idea of making this forum invisble also should be an idea taken into consideration. Yeah most of us like to see when a new topic is posted but members can also see when acticity is up in here and when there is none at all for days. People ask me "why is BTS getting so many posts." Especially when something goes down and they see the number of topics incresae and they know we are discussing it.

So I think both the URL should be changed and the forum should be only made visible to mods when they are logged in.

Nice try people, but King Pompous already said that he will not hide the forum for mods only. It seems that it is more important for Mods/Admins to be able to see if there is a new post in BTS without having to sign in.
