I don't know about you, but I always wanted them to get rid of the Mr. Roger's house part of the show and just do the Magic Kingdom puppet bit for the entire show. I also wanted that big model of Mr. Roger's neighborhood he had in the back yard. I wanted to play with my Matchbox cars on it. Hey, I was FOUR! LOL :)

This is the song that doesn’t end, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, but they’ll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn’t end yes it goes on and on my friend. I also liked the puppets, but I think my favorite part was when he fed the fish and when the train came by. I never liked the mailman. Is that weird?

My other favorite shows as a kid: Captain Kangaroo, Romper Room (I even had a pair of Romper Stompers), Sesame Street, Electric Company and Zoom. LOL

I absolutely loved Mr. Rogers as a child.

As I got older, and heard his voice again, it did give me the creeps. Why? Well, this is why, I think-getting older and more cynical (and viewing a lot of bad TV movies and TV news stories) clued me in to the fact that a lot of guys who can talk like that and get children to trust them ARE Kidtouchers.
I do not think Mr. Rogers was ever or is now a molester. Please, say it isn't so! Like Arthur Dent said, I so loved that Magic Kingdom, the Railroad, everything.....it was PURE childhood joy, DAMNIT!
*shudder*
OK I'm done. Yuck.

Hey I'd like to daze away to a place no one has known
In a state of mind I could call mine and only I could own
Where I can hum a tune any time I choose and there's no such thing as time
Where I can feel no pain just calm and sane what a place for one to find

slightly off topic, but Eddie Murphy's parody was one of SNL's best bits ever.

What about Lambchop's something or other and Reading Rainbow? Anyone watch those?

why do I say I'm fine when it's obvious I'm not?
why's it so hard to tell you what I want?
why can't you just read my mind?

With a house full of kids (none mine):

This is the song that doesn't end
It just goes on and on my friend
Some people started singing it
Not knowing what it was
And they'll go on singin it forever just because

for some reason i didnt particularly like reading rainbow but i still watched it, but i dont really remember much from it. the funniest thing i ever saw on sesame street was when they had a white kid hanging out with his black friend, and when they went to the black kids house to eat they served collard greens and fried chicken.

I read this article today in the Star Ledger, and I must say that i am sad to see him go. I pretty much grew up on his show when i was a kid, and looking at all the crap kids' shows that are on now, im glad his show was there for me. I cant imagine being a little kid now and not watching his show. He will be missed by many, and is considered something of a legend.
