O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | This guy is a piece of shit. He was guilty the first time around but unfortunatly some moron with a video camera decided to film from a bad angle in the dark. I just would have been a little nervous if I was the arresting officer this time around. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/rodneyking010829.html

But, what right did the police have to continue to beat him after he had obviously been subdued? Camera or not, that type of shit happens all of the time. This time it was caught on camera and people were forced to watch what their police were capable of. Police violence is not a myth, and it doesn't always come with just cause.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | Kid..the police had no right to beat him after he was subdued but in my opinion he never was. The police originally claimed that he was on PCP and that he wouldn't stop fighting with them. He also was speeding and led police on a chase prior to that incident. I feel that he gave up his rights by endangering the lives of those officers.

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | quote: I don't think that police officers in the field are deemed as judge and jury. They had to get him under control, I agree with that. But, they didn't have to beat him every time he flinched because another cop hit him. I guarantee you if those cops knew they were on tape, they wouldn't have hit him once. Police are trained to deal with unruly suspects without having to beat them 9 on 1 with their "billy-ass clubs". They were there to arrest him, not to dole out his punishment.

I have watched plenty of those 'police video' shows where the culprit seems to have 'extra-ordinary' strength when on some illegal substance. Who knows what goes on in your mind while on PCP - do you see 'demons'? Isn't this his third offense? - I sorta remember him being charged/arrested for domestic violence. The video that REALLY is bad is the car-theft suspect (I think) from Philly.

Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | Based on the few seconds of that video, it appeared that too much force was used, but I don't think anyone really gave a crap about rodney king. The problem was that minorities in LA had been complaining about the excessive force used by the LAPD. No one believed them, until the video.
