For IkeaBoy IFilm.com

AM, do you even have a point? Linux has its good points, but it just doesn't live up to the functionality or compatibility of Windows. If it did, it would be a lot more popular. Then again, if if was a fifth, we'd all be drunk. :)

Now, how about some good links for the "Broadband Niggas" in the house?

Hollywood.com Film Trailers and more...

"I can emulate Photoshop just fine in Linux and it runs better too in Linux. And GIMP(a Linux photo editing program) is pretty damn good too"

HAHAHA man "wine" is only good for simple simple tasks...no way a professional would use emulated software to produce work. And as far as GIMP goes....CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP. Look I see the attraction to Linux it's "cool" "l33te5rezzxxx1" and it gives you some "geek credit" ....but in the real world (other then running servers) it is still a dream.

Try emulating 3dsmax in with WINE and tell me how your render times go. lol

I know a few people now that run Linux...but I don't know any who produce anything worthy on it.

Hey at least you dont use a mac...j/p ;p

Popularity doesn't mean shit. Compaqs are real popular but does that mean you would go out and get a compaq? They don't call MS a monopoly for nothing.

Seph that line would have been true five years ago but it just isn't true these days.

Wine is amazingly good. It can emulate any non-game app you throw at it. And WineX looks great and soon games will be emulated too.

I will not waver. Linux is still the greatest.

And seph that 7 gigs of anime and movies wouldn't be existent if it weren't for linux coders so nanana.

And I might as well add to the broadband sites.

Love the multi-monitor desktop.... porn and all.

AM, the real question is this - what REAL ADVANTAGES does Linux have over Windows 2000, especially for a pro at computers who has NO hacking desire?

Oh, and Compaqs aren't THAT bad - if you buy from the business line (Deskpro/Armada/Evo) instead of Presario. Not to mention, all computers are on a level playing field once they're formatted. :)

Edit: Hummer, you love embarassing yourself with those Macs, don't ya? Yeah, they're good at graphics.... but for a home user, especially a professional, it's useless.

And AM - you should love Macs now.... OS X is Unix....

Of course Macs are better at A/V than Linux and Windows but BeOS still is king in that department.

Since BeOS folded last week, your point is moot.

"hey dominowrecker... no professional would use windows OR linux for that sort of work... thats wut macs r for. "
lol I am a professional! :) And Photoshop is faster on everything but cymk conversion on pc. http://www.techtv.com/news/computing/story/0,24195,3344635,00.html (backing my claims)
and I dont know what your talking about that professional graphics people dont use PC.....do you even work in the industry???
and you cant run 3dsmax (3d graphics program incase you didnt know) on mac.....all you have is Strata, eletricimage, Lightwave, and infini-D...all pretty good but not up to par with the big boys... though I hear Maya will becoming out soon.
I did gain respect for mac with the intergration of the dvd-r, but still not enough for me though :(

and K1d here is a link http://www.ontwo.com/video.php3

not alot of content but shows off some really nice compression schemes

They gave up on BeOS a long time ago on the PCs. Now it's held up by independent programmers. But BeOS is still the best when it comes to A/V. Of course it sucks in other areas.
