Both Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life were awesome shows that began to suck when Nickelodeon tried to kid-ize them. And yes, Rocko's Modern Life had a lot of adult jokes/references in them. Name another Nicktoon that has its main character working a phone sex line

I used to watch every Sunday morning for all new episodes of those two shows, they were great. And on the issue of "mature content," one episode sticks out in particular, "Don't Whiz on the Electric Fence," with Ren whipping his junk out and taking a leak.

Isn't there a sound clip played on a popular radio show (don't remember which one, just remember hearing it)in which Ren says the word "Piss" in it? If so, it's amazing it can be said on a kids show but O & A can't say it.

Ren & Stimpy was a bench mark in animation, but I have to disagree, I never was a fan of Rocko. I always found it very boring.

this cartoon fuckin rocked, I liked Ren and Stimpy much better than Rockos modern life, but a few episodes of Rockos modern life made me laugh my fuckin ass off. the one when Philbert and Heffer caught Rocko sleep walking naked. lol the way Philbert said naked was the whole punch line of the joke. Ren and Stimpy was very mature content sometimes, lol. At other times it wasnt. It walked a verry thin line on some episodes. But it still was a very funny cartoon.

its ironic that the reason for Ren and Stimpy's success is the reason for its demise.

It pisses me off that nick pulled ren and stimpy off the air recently but you can download full episodes off of morpheus.

i used to love r&s...great cartton, lots of humor i only get when i think about it now.and now, there's more cartoons that go even farther then r&s and rocco.cartton network, 10-1, sunday nights, its "adult swim".last week, one show on it revealed the two adults on johnny quest to be gay, and another show had dry humping, a character named "black debbie", a girl who wanted to get pregnant, and a guy who's only line(said multiple times) was"i want sex".adult cartoons=more gooder

i may be a little catholic boy, but i'm still HLJC 4 LIFE!

It's always the same story. The prevading idea in this country is that animated works are supposed to be designed for children-- like once you hit the age of 21, you're no longer supposed to enjoy cartoons. FUCK THAT! Dammit, I enjoy watching cartoons now moreso than I did as a child, especially since those little subtleties that would have escaped me then are now clear as day. That's why shows like The Simpsons, or all of the classic WB cartoons (including Animaniacs, which follows the old style) work the best, because they appeal to the broadest spectrum. In a case like Ren and Stimpy, it was probably that the show leaned too far to the adult-oriented side of that spectrum, and "kiddy-fying" it ruined it for everyone.

One of the things Bill Maher says which pissed me off is that he refuses to watch cartoons like The Simpsons because "Cartoons are for children and I hate children." Nice line Captain Openmind.

I'll never forget the first time I saw the R & S show. We just had a huge party the night before at our winter rental at the Jersey Shore and the next morning everyone was lying around the TV, completely hungover. We were flipping through channels when we came across this cartoon so we stopped. We were all lying there sick as dogs, laughing our asses off at this unknown cartoon. Little did we know that this would be the springboard for others like Beavis & Butthead.
