| Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00  | I would certainly enlist. I am 16 and turn 17 in 3 months. I would take my high school equivalency. I come from a long line of Airmen, and my father said if I did enlist, the situation would be well in hand by the time I was ready for action. This isn't a Vietnam. In 'Nam, it was an uprising that involved nearly everyone in the nation of Vietnam. In this case, we have a small segment of the Afghanistan population that is affiliated with the military. And even those with military ties may be on our side. This also isn't 'Nam because we have been attacked. It was a split nation for Vietnam, but now (mostly) everyone supports the military. In this war, we will know who we are fighting. We will have the COMPLETE support of our allies. We can't lose. Those towelheads who were celebrating in the streets will be sorry. The US should do what they did 50 years ago-- beat the crap out of them and then make them Americans. Look at Japan-- We'll have those dune coons having BBQ's and following the Jets in no time. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | When I was 18 I enlisted in the U.S. Army. During my sixth week of basic at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. the Iraqi millitary invaded the small oil producing nation of Kuwait. At that time, the situation was expected to escalate extremely quickly. My orders for AIT at Ft. Huachuca Az were changed and my entire company was to go directly to Ft. Benning Ga for infantry training. As it turned out, our initial orders were reinstatedand I eventually made it to the intelligence school. However, that year, Christmas exodus ( a break from all training to allow soldiers to go home to their families) was cancelled. I was fortunate enough to graduate before the deadline and was able to go home. My class was the last on post to do so. I would later volunteer to join the effort in the Middle East, but did not get the call. I remember vividly the morning the First Sgt. told us the news. We were scared, we were boys who were about to become men in a heartbeat. Then, we were fighting not for ourselves, but for the interests of our allies. While I was eager to go to action, I did not have the feeling in my gut that I do now. Today, it is about US. It is about our children, our families, our homes. We have been invaded. Our greatest city has been brought to it's knees. It is now, at a time like this that we as a people must come together and show the world why we have become the greatest nation on this planet. I now understand how the brave men who rushed off to fight the German war machine felt. They had pride for their nation. They fought oppression. They ran full speed into the raging conflict with no doubt that they were rightous. I pledged my undying loyalty to this nation 11 years ago, and while I was never certain about the "cause" in Desert Storm, I would have gladly laid my life down. Now, things are different. I have never felt so willing to go to combat in my life. Should this turn into war, I will, without hesitation seek to re-enlist. TFEC, there are also combat arms MOS' in non combat arms fields. I was Intelligence, however I was in a combat arms MOS. We were the outcasts, everybody in the intelligence community considered us glorified infantry..... for all intent.... we were. :)  Currently newbieless...unbelieveable! This is our country, this is out way of life, it's easy to say you would go over a computer, but as i read all your post, i believe all of you would go and fight, just as i would. These are the times that try men's souls, when the greatness of out nation and out people are tested. We have just witnessed the most horrorendus attack in the history of the United States. I want revenge, i want to be there to serve it. God bless America, and God help the Middle East.  Happy To Offend You | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | I can honestly say that until this morning I saw no point to enlist because we were fighting for other countries for the most part. But as of this morning, my opinion has drastically changed. Would I enlist? I would love to say Hell yeah, but when it came to it I hope my convistion held up. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | Next year i plan on going to college to have the time of my life and succeed in whatever i plan on doing in my future...going into the army, would definitely screw it up...HOWEVER, this is OUR country, and I am definitely not going to sit by and watch somebody abuse it and take advantage...so YES without hesitation i'd sign...what good is the future, MY FUTURE, if it's no longer FREE Temptaui dure et tam longe adiui et in summo Etiam nihil est | ||||
