John McCain speaking about those who attacked the United States: "May God have mercy on their souls, because we won't.”

There are no words to describe adequately the enormity of these attacks on the United States or the depravity of these attacks on the United States or the depravity of those who are responsible for them.

Clearly, the organization and magnitude of these attacks required more than a few people to perpetrate. It will take some time to determine who they are, and who has supported their attacks on the United States. But we will find them out, and they will suffer the full, awesome measure of our justice.

Until then, we can only pray for the victims and their families, remain calm, and resolute, confident that America will never be cowed by terrorists, no matter how awful their acts, no matter how depraved their hearts.

These were not just crimes against the United States, they are acts of war. We will prevail in this war, as we have prevailed in the past. May God bless us in this trial, defend us, and make our justice swift and sure.

THAT is the line I want to fucking here. THAT is why this guy is better than Bush. THAT is why this guy is better than Gore. THIS is the type of wording, THIS is the type of speech I want to hear from the people in charge. FUCK politics for being so political that a guy with balls who will say what we, as Americans, want to hear, a guy who will say what we feel, a guy who speaks with legitimate pissed offness.

That's all I wanted to hear, I waited all day for something like that yesterday...

Someone refresh my memory as to why he didn't win the primary much less than the election?

He can write it but Bush wouldn't say it with the emotion it deserves. Bush would read it monotone, read it wrong, or won't read it because too many people might get angry. Bush has no emotion, bush has no voice range. You need someone who when you hear this will cause people to rally to action. Not just be "oh, ho-hum"

Republicans liked Bush better because he looked more like an average guy, had that folksy quality, had more money, had his father, and was willing to become a Republican bitch.

Because people in politics who have their own opinions are not very popular.

I'm more Democrat than Republican but I'm neither. however if McCain was nominated and it was McCain V. Gore, I would totally prefer McCain to Gore.

McCain lost because politics is so political.

NYD80 thanks for posting that quote, first time i've smiled in the last day and a half or so. it's nice to see there's one real fucking man in politics these days. could you imagine the speech McCain would have given last night??? Damn would that have had some emotion to it, some real anger/hatred. This guy is a war hero and should have been our current president. If only he really was right now we'd have something to be proud of at this moment.

Not only did he say the right things, but I can believe him because of his past. He definitely knows what can happen when you try to talk to terrorists.

America must show we can wipe out a civilazation with a button. We must show that we will strike back with such devestation, that these people no longer have the capabilities or the want to do any terrorist acts again

God Bless John McCain and God Bless America

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will shepherd the weak through the valley of darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

I spoke with apprehension of Bush's ability to lead us during this crisis. His speech last night did not do much to bolster my confidence in him. I hope he soon finds his way.
We need to hit these sons of bitches. I am not going to jump on the nuke them all bandwagon. But it's time to fire up the smart weapons. It's time to start killing those who are killing us.

I'd just like to thank Senator McCain for saying this. I've spent the last two days at Ground Zero, and I think we all are as interested in seeing some retribution as we are in doing our jobs.

Here is a picture that I think says it all. It was written in the dust on the chapel just above the temp mourgue location (ironically, the NYPD memorial wall).

I understand everyone wanting a strong and swift strike against those who did this...
I also feel that The President made his statement with a CALM STRENGTH...
We don't need irrational people being riled up to take matters in there own hands...
I myself am confident that JUSTICE will be done...
But I am also afraid for my "friends" at the 7-11...
Afraid that some angry idiot is gonna take his own revenge on these people...
The Country needs to remain calm and strong to right these terrible wrongs.

Politically, after what happened yesterday, I have no clue where I stand. I once considered myself a Green who supported military funding, but I now realize they are 2 worlds that are completely different and can never meet.

As I became more involved in the Green Party, I realized just how far to the left they were, supporting the release of cop-killers and the like.

I was always a McCain supporter since the very start of the Republican primaries. He has always been good at winning the support of Independents and Democrats. Plus, it didn't hurt that he was a Vietnam vet.

Basically, McCain had a hard time getting traditional Republicans to vote for him. That, coupled with the fact that Republican primaries were closed to Independents and Democrats in many states who would've willingly supported McCain. Also, the South Carolina primaries saw many precincts close due to a minor storm that hit the day before.

Today, McCain is also searching for political identity. He is deciding whether to stay with the Republicans, or switch to the Reform Party, Jesse Ventura's Independence Party, or remain independent.

So from now on, I go where the best leader of this country goes. I go where John McCain goes.

One of the biggest reasons is because he's too honest. Other politicians can't have him telling it like it is, they're scared shit of that. Also, he wanted campaign fund contribution limits. So that a politician wouldn't vote the way they're biggest contributors (insurance companies, etc.) wanted them to. Not getting large contributions towards their campaigns REALLY scared the shit out them. That's why most politicians SUCK, they're more worried about pleasing companies that contributed to them than they are about us.
