| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | Listen to "God Bless America" without getting teary eyed? As we watched the absolute horror of the attack on our soil, listening to the President this war may go on for years. I look at my 13 year old son and wonder will it end before he becomes 18. The terror that fills me with in incomprhensible, yet I would stand by his side gladly if he did. We see Arab-Americans being killed, attacked and humiliated. The Holy Book of Koran is much like the bible, preaching peace, love and faith. Was I angry at all these people hell yes, but did I go out and hurt Irish-Americans when Tomothy McVeigh blew up the Federal building in Oklahoma, NO. Believe me I know how hard it is not to want to strike back, to hurt or maim people for this attack. But we must maintain the peace, do what we can, whether it is to give blood now and in the following months, riase money for someone affected by this tragedy. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | well kingpin i equated it a while back to christmas time. For the weeks following up to and on christmas people are just a little bit nicer and polite and family is a bit more im-portant. Yet then everyone becomes a jackass 1st week of january. But it usually does take something like this or any war to show america's true patriotism. When you get comfortable with something and expect it to be there, you forget it';s true value and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is a vested right from our fore fathers. But i don't think bashing people for buying a flag now and not 5 years ago is right. In playing devils advocate you take walking for granted you don't get up and praise god that you can walk everyday. But if god forbid an accident or close call fell upon you like it did me a couple weeks ago it does give you a sense of thankfulness for small things. I am pissed at people who are buying flags and feel they done their patriotic duty, or people who do it just to fit in. | Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | Kingpin, this past tuesday at 8:48am all the radio stations played that song simutaneously... I danced in my kitchen with my baby boy to it & it felt so good to release some emotion.. i have the same thoughts as you.. except i wonder if my son will grow up to be an adult.. yes, i want to *kill them all*... however, thats just want they WANT! What can we destroy? they have nothing... i want justice.. i really do... but i cannot see how we can get justice.. I trust my government & thats all i can do at the time being. But i learned from all of this... I'm not wastng a single day of my life. And i AM proud to live where I live & come from where i come from...  "you will never be forgotten" | ||||
