Personally, He is a God. He took this shithole of a city 8 years ago and made it the greatest place on earth. What is great about Rudy is the fact that he takes no bullshit, his agenda: what is best for the city overall and In a time like this We need Rudy to be our Mayor. So Run, Rudy, Run! You are our Mayor! Our trust is in your hands and hopefully you will get a cabinet position after all this Shit is through (Attorney General has a nice ring to it). You deserve it. God Bless You.
For you wrestling fans out there...This is "The Bottom Line"

I am attaching an article from the Post on Thursday entitled.
GO, RUDY, GO

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 27, 2001 -- The one man New York City needs as its leader, now more than ever - Rudolph W. Giuliani - finally is signaling his willingness to serve.
Yesterday, Giuliani said he is reaching out to the three main mayoral candidates, in search of a consensus that would allow him to stay in office for an unspecified period.

To ease New York through its current crisis.

Failing that, he says, he'll explore the idea of having term limits repealed so that he might stay on as mayor.

One way or another, it would be best if Rudy stayed on.

And so we wish him the best of luck.

After all, it is hardly exaggeration to say the city's fate hangs in the balance.

Given the overall quality of the mayoral field that emerged from Tuesday's primaries, New Yorkers would be well advised to take to the streets and draft Giuliani - and then to keep him in office for as long as it takes to get the post-Sept. 11 recovery done.

Indeed, polls from Tuesday's primary show that if he were on the ballot in November, he'd trounce his opponents.

Perhaps Rudy surveyed the political landscape the morning after the primary and asked himself how he could have shut the door on New Yorkers looking for him to stick it out beyond December.

So now it looks like he's coming through for New York.

And not a moment too soon.

Yes, some highly unorthodox procedural steps will have to be taken to keep the mayor. And this is cause for legitimate concern.

But different isn't synonymous with wrong.

As we've noted on any number of previous occasions, these are highly unusual times.

And the city's future needs to come first.

It's no longer merely a question of maintaining Rudy's legendary crime reductions, or of safeguarding the city's precariously balanced budget.

Now someone has to step in and run the city anew.

In the short run, post-Sept. 11 trauma continues virtually to paralyze the city.

Transportation is a nightmare - so much so that a ban on single-occupancy vehicles was imposed today.

Businesses are seriously considering other places to set up shop. Fear is rampant, tourism is down precipitously.

The long-term fallout could be severe. It's not inconceivable that New York never recovers its former glory.

There's more: Lower Manhattan needs to be rebuilt.

Tens of billions of dollars will be pouring in from Washington and Albany - money than needs to be spent - quickly, but responsibly.

This is no time for on-the-job training at City Hall.

Nor for amateurs.

Rudy's a seasoned pro.

The others can't hold his coat.

They know it.

New York knows it.

Whatever the impediments - and they are formidable - they need to be overcome.

And quickly.

I could not agree more. This city is a 180 degree turn from what it was like under the Koch and Dinkins regimes. Maybe people are finally waking up to the fact that bleeding heart liberalism is not the way to go through life. I sure hope so.

Not to defile your thread, but people in this city still read the NY post? Come on! It's a 25 cent rag! (And for the record i hate Newsday as well, I don't like any paper having bias no matter which side liberal or conservative)

Anyway, I've lambasted the mayor for Diallo, closing porn shops, kissing the yankees asses, and most recently stopping a bus full of teens. :)Why I even gave the man the finger during the thanksgiving parade (Which I kinda regret now)

But all of that is in the past. Figuratively speaking, it's a whole new ballgame and Rudy needs to be involved. At the very least if he isn't relected he should be appointed to a special board or become deputy mayor on whomever's new administration.

Before I never liked Ferrer(to me he looks like colonel sanders from KFC) him going against the mayor is going to hurt him DEARLY, Bloomberg may know business but can run this city in tough times? What about Mark Green? I hope the weed he smoked with Ralph Nader isn't going to make him fail.

I don't know what will happen. I leave it up to the voters. I'd vote for Rudy, but I don't really live in the city.

Sometimes, you need a bully to get things done, and to clean up a city.
Rudy is that bully, but he is a bully who protects his own, which is NYC.

There are 3 types of leaders and heroes.
Some are born leaders, some are built from the ground up by experience, and some are the right people at the right time.

I have to say the first time I ventured off into the city on my own during the day over a year ago was a bit scarey for me. I had the idea that it was like it used to be years ago. I couldn't believe the change I noticed as I was just coming through the Lincoln Tunnel. He has done a fabulous job. Every city needs a Mayor like him. He is of New York and for New York. He loves the city and his job. The fact that someone like me, a single white female, can walk down the street carrying a purse and a briefcase and not feel threatened or scared says alot coming from this small town girl. Don't get wrong, I am not naive and I don't have the idea that it is 100% safe because nothing is. However he has improved the city in an amount of time that no other mayor of a city, in equal size or population, in this country has ever done. Long live Rudy. He has done wonders for New York and now he will be able to put that talent into America. I am sure the chance is just around the corner. Good Luck Rudy. ;)
