Was listening to Howard this morning and found this on the web after he mentioned it.

N A S H V I L L E, Oct. 3 — At least seven people were killed in a bus accident in Tennessee, police said, amid reports the driver was attacked by a passenger on the vehicle.

The incident occurred on a Greyhound bus near Manchester, Tenn., about 65 miles outside of Nashville.
Officials at nearby Vanderbilt Hospital said 10 people died at the scene, but local police put the number at seven. Hospital officials said at least 25 people were injured in the incident.

Passenger Carly Rinearson told local television station WTVF that a man aboard the bus had slit the driver's throat, sending it veering out of control. Local officials, however, declined to comment on the circumstances of the crash.

Here is more of an update from CNN.com

MANCHESTER, Tennessee (CNN) -- Greyhound halted nationwide bus service Wednesday morning after a bus crash that killed four people, a company spokeswoman said.

A passenger told CNN affiliate WTVF that a rider had slit the throat of the driver.

Victims were being airlifted to hospitals in Nashville to the north and Chattanooga to the south. Although Greyhound reported four dead, Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville said 10 people had died.

Spokeswoman Kristen Parsley said the company is capable of contacting drivers on the road to tell them to halt service.

"Greyhound officials felt we need to do that as a precaution," Parsley said. She said anyone who feared loved ones may have been on the bus, which was traveling from Nashville to Atlanta, Georgia, could call 1-800-884-2744 for information. Carly Rinearson, a passenger on the bus, said in a phone call to WTVF that a man kept asking if he could have her seat near the front of the bus.

Rinearson said when she refused to give up her seat, "He just went up to the bus driver and like slit his throat. And the bus driver turned the wheel and the bus tipped over."

The bus, thought to have been carrying around 50 passengers, was on its side in the median of Interstate 24.

The question is now, was this or was it not a terrorist act? Could terrorists do something more large scale like they did with the pentagon and the world trade center, like chemical or biological warfare, or could they just be fucking with us by doing these small scale acts across different parts of the country just to put more fear into America. Or this could just have been a lowlife piece of scum in our country who did this and it was a random act of violence and not a terrorist act.

Wanted to get people's opinion's on this.

In all honesty, I think that it was just an everyday american scumbag. But it's disturbing to see how everyones mindstate(including mine)has changed. If this had happened last month, it would have just been another sick story on the news. Now it's the top story on cnn, and everyone thinks terrorism right away. I don't think any american will feel safe again any time soon.

...but we'd all be a lot better off today if the terrorists had decided to crash Greyhound buses into the Twin Towers in the first place...

another update:

-- A fatal Greyhound bus crash Wednesday in Tennessee, in which the driver's throat was slit, is not related to recent terrorist events, authorities said.

At least six and up to 10 people were killed, officials said.

A Greyhound Lines representative said the bus company was suspending service nationwide as a precaution. FBI agents were investigating the Manchester crash.

In Washington, federal officials told CNN they believe the crash to be an isolated incident and not terrorism.

An official said, "There is no reason to assume this is some kind of related terrorist incident. If anything, this may be a crazy person. This just doesn't fit with anything" from the terror attack three weeks ago in New York and Washington.

Roland Colson of the Tennessee Department of Safety said 10 people died but Dana Keeton, also from the safety department, reported six people were killed.

Colson said the driver's throat had been cut. A representative at the Medical Center of Manchester, Shelly Turner, said the driver had undergone surgery to treat a laceration to his neck. She said he was in stable condition.

Steve Deford, the Coffee County 911 director, said the man who attacked the bus driver was among the dead.

Referring to investigations into terrorist activity in the United States, Chet Lunner, chief spokesman for Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, said "We don't have any indications throughout our system that this (the bus crash) is part of a pattern."

Lunner said the department was studying whether to issue a nationwide advisory to other bus lines about whether they should follow Greyhound's lead and suspend bus service.

"We're reviewing that," Lunner said. An advisory could come from the department later Wednesday, Lunner said.

Lunner said a "high-level" response team from the Transportation Department has been reviewing information about the crash all morning. The team includes Mineta and his senior officials.

The attacker, who allegedly had a Croatian passport, was thrown through the windshield to his death, according to ABC news. The bus driver is in stable condition after surgery.
