This sounds like one of those Urban Legends, like the scuba guy being dropped in the woods or the married guy who showed his wife fn his best man.

This way you don't even have to read it. Some morons will actually believe this when they do get it.

I am sure O&A might mention it to considering some morons might have sent it to them hundreds of times. So I just thought it would be topical.

This could very well be a hoax, but guess where I won't be on Halloween.

The fucked up thing is that if this gets around, millions, possibly billions of dollars across the country could be lost on that day.

I just received this email too. It's considered "undetermined" at this website.

Urban Legends

Some times are right for pushing the limits of our lives, and some times are right for finding the center of our lives.Right now, understandably, everyone wants to be reassured about what is really important, what resonates at the very core of who we are as human beings.

Oh that wacky Paul Harvey. When I first heard his show it freaked me out. Way too much blurring of "live reads" and his show.

It was probably like the confusion that TV viewers of the 50's had when Lucy and Ricky Ricardo kept in character and started lighting up Lucky Strikes during the commercial breaks "...and you see because they're not filtered, they soothe your throat..."

Fears Fueling Bizarre Rumors
Internet is abuzz with dire
warnings, strange photos

By GREG SMITH and EMILY GEST
Daily News Staff Writers

he Sept. 11 terror attacks have become fodder for rumors and urban legends that are rapidly spreading around a jittery nation over the Internet.

Among photos circulating on the Internet is Osama Bin Laden as your friendly convenience store clerk.
Most of them have been false, but one circulating by e-mail warning against visiting shopping malls on Halloween for fear of another attack is being investigated by the FBI. The agency says it has not been able to substantiate the information in the e-mail.

One version, signed by Laura Katsis of Los Angeles and containing her company name and phone number, tells a chilling story. Katsis writes of a friend's friend who was dating a man from Afghanistan until he disappeared a week before the World Trade Center attack.

"On 9/10," according to the e-mail, "[the friend's friend] received a letter from her boyfriend explaining he wished he could tell her why he had left ... and he BEGGED her not to get on any commercial airlines on 9/11 and to not go to any malls on Halloween."

More frightening is supposed photo of visitor on observation deck at Trade Center with plane approaching in background, though details show it's the wrong model of plane, the 'tourist' is dressed for winter and many other flaws.
The jilted girlfriend apparently turned the letter over to the FBI, according to Katsis' e-mail.

Hundreds of people have called Katsis or the FBI to check the e-mail's veracity.

"The information is completely unsubstantiated," said Laura Bosley, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Los Angeles bureau. "There is nothing to suggest it is credible."

Katsis, who is out of the office until Wednesday and whose phone is no longer in service, stands by her story, according to Norma Kraus, a spokeswoman for the company where Katsis works.

Those who study urban legends understand why Katsis vouches for her story.

"Passing along rumors is a way of sharing with others you're frightened. It's also a reality check to see if the feelings you have are reasonable," said Barbara Mikkelson, who operates Snopes.com, a Web site that tracks urban legends and debunked Katsis' e-mail.

Mikkelson spoke with Katsis before she disconnected her phone and learned that she did not know the jilted girlfriend.

The FBI is obligated to investigate stories such as Katsis', but in most cases the information turns out to be apocryphal.

"We can safely say that in this investigation, as in other publicly acknowledged investigations, more often than not leads are run out and determined to be a dead end. That's just the nature of this kind of thing," said James Margolin, an FBI spokesman in New York.

Other urban legends, none substantiated but all inspired by the terrorist attack, include:

A philandering husband who worked at the World Trade Center told his frantic wife who called him on his cell phone on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m., "What do you mean am I all right? I'm working at the office."

A tourist on the observation deck of a World Trade Center tower was photographed seconds before an airliner visible in the picture smashed into the building.

Suspicious men of Middle Eastern descent have been seen videotaping outside the Lincoln Tunnel.

Arab newspaper and food vendors and taxi drivers stayed home from work Sept. 11.

Blue envelopes mailed to households around the country purportedly from a foundation have been saturated with a deadly virus.
