Well here we are a week after we began attacking Afghanastan and a month after the attacks on us and we are slowly starting to slip into the hands of our enemies.

The major focus of the news today is we accidently bombed a residential neighborhood and the anthrax scare.

When you look at the accidental bombing, pay close attention to what the Taliban is doing. They have taken a group of foriegn journalists into a city to show them 200 killed civilians. A staged invite to bring in journalists, whom they hate, to see this outrage? Sound a little planned folks? The other news footage they are showing is an Afghan woman telling the news cammeras that her family has lost everything. She is showing most of her face in this interview. The Taliban and strict Muslim law according to the Taliban, forbids a woman from showing her face in public. The taliban executes woman for showing their faces in public charging them with audultery. Stagged? And we are buying into this hook, line and sinker.

And the anthrax scare. The media is reporting this non-stop, over and over. Planes are making emergency landings because of suspicious powders found on board. The terrorists have to be laughing their asses off. They are terrorizing America without even leaving their homes. No need to get caught, No need to blow themselves up, just put some powder in an envelope and mail it somewhere. Has anyone else noticed this anthrax scare shows no sign of organizesd terror? It shows all the signs of terrorist wanna be's popping up. Notice how the government keeps stating they have found no links in these events and bin Laden?

One (1) person has died from anthrax. 9 others have come in contact with it. But America is freaking and hunkering down. More people die everyday in car accidents and of smoking related deaths. But are we stopping smoking and stopping our desire to get in a car?

Live your lifes and stop playing into these bastards hands. And DO NOT play into the sympathies of civilian deaths. Civilians die in war. It's sad, but it's a reality. Until the civilian deaths exceed 5000+, don't get all teary eyed about it.

I'm not. But cut a little slack to the generations who've only heard of war and the threat of biological warfare in the extreme past tense. It's a little jarring to wake up to a world that looks like a FOX Sunday Night Movie.

Swallow I agree with most of what you say. I regard a couple of your statements as false though.

Wanna be terrorist? Can you tell me how the everday man/woman would get their hands on anthrax? If I took a survey I am willing to bet at least 98% of the population has no idea how to get their hands on these deadly spores.

Thus, someone would have to get extreme training, do extensive research or have some very good connections. Which would take them out of the class of "wanna be". A wanna be terrorist is someone in their basements making pipe bombs to blow up a bridge and not succeed. Anyone who went through this trouble not only had some preparation, but also had the disire to terrorize on the highest level. I am not saying they are direct bin Laden followers, even if they are an American militia, they are terrorist none the less.

This is the begining. It sometimes takes months (MONTHS) for anthrax to show symptoms. The good news is if there is any nation that cant completely controll such a situation, we are living in it.

Over all I agree with the message of you post. DONT BE AFFRAID TO LIVE. Have faith in your military. Have faith in your Government. Have faith in history repeating itself. If anyone country in the world could win such a war, and if any country in the world could keep their people as safe as possible. We are living in it.

Every day you're alive, there's always the possibility of death. It's just a fact of life. You can't go around dwelling on death. If you do, you might as well just curl up in the fetal position, and wait for the inevitable. Living in fear, is not living.

I can honestly say that I don't give a rats ass how many of them are killed. All I care about is taking out Osama and the Taliban and bringing our boys home safe.

Did I say that I did? No. I was referring to O&AS's comment about America "freaking and hunkering down."

Good Post, OAS.

Another thing for people to remember is that none of those "civilian casualties" have been substantiated by anyone except the Taliban. They could say that 800 civilians have been killed, and the media accepts it as fact.

Will there be collateral civilian damage? Of course, but ask yourself this: The people of Afghanistan have known something was going to come back at them ever since the attacks. Why would "civilians" still be around the area of these terrorist camps?

As OAS said, doesn't it seem a little too convenient that the Taliban lets foreign journalists into a town to see the "civilian" casualites and they are all laid out in a row arranged for viewing?

As for the anthrax scares, that's our paranoia making one confirmed fatality seem like an outbreak. Fear is a major weapon of terrorism, and if you let them alter the way you live your life, they gain a victory.

I usually don't single people out, but last week during a thread, when FM Jeff posted saying "STAY OUT OF THE CITY" concering when it was released about how more attacks may happen, that only feeds the paranoia. All the rest of you can do is keep living your lives the way you normally would. Rest assured the local law enforcement in your respective areas, the government and those of us in the military are doing what we can to make you safe, and bring those responsible to justice.

I'd be happy to. Up until 1998, all you needed to do was make a lame attempt by putting a request in writing to one of over 100 labs in this country and request an anthrax sample for research purposes. In many cases, your anthrax spores would be mailed to you. After the FBI investigated a case in 1998, tighter restrictions were put in place and mailing of spores was stopped.

Again, comming in contact with anthrax is not deadly. Most farmers come into contact with it regularly. Inhalation anthrax is the only deadly form. All other forms are treatable. Inhalation anthrax is treatable if caught early.

And there isn't intense training necessary to distribute it. If you understand basic biology, you can grow spores fairly easily. All it requires is some geletan and a petri dish. The sample mailed to Microsoft was put in an envelope with a threatening letter and some porno pics. Not your typical major terrorist approach.

A nurse I work with was working in Lybia in the 80's when we bombed them. Goverment officials came into her hospital, took all the pediatric case they could find, wrapped bandages on them at random, and paraded them in front of the news cameras as examples of civillian casaulties. Something tells me that is what is happening here as well.

OAS, I couldn't agree with you more. The media is and always has been the most effective form of government propaganda. Since the media is so hungry for information regarding Afghani conditions, this "invite" must have had them salivating. Honestly, I thought that the Taliban was going to either kill them or hold them hostage, but I guess I was wrong. What the media saw was all too convient...and to think they were naive (sp) enough to trust the Taliban...the same people harboring a terrorist...

As for the Anthrax...I can't help but be scared but I do go to work and school everyday in NYC...sadly I always wonder if I'm coming home...
