| Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01  | Ok...since I have all you weekend home warriors in one place...I have a question. Does anyone know anything about ceiling fans? I have heard they are easy to install especially if you have an existing light already in place. I have a light in my loft that I want to replace with a ceiling fan... Is it something I can do without electrocuting myself??  | ||||

You just have to make sure that wherever you're screwing the bracket into can support the weight. And that you can lift the fan yourself. You don't have to hold it at the ceiling, it hangs on a bracket while you tighten it in, but you do have to get it up there! Took me about 1/2 an hour, I'd say. Killing the circuit breaker first is a very good idea unless you're really desperate for that perm you've always wanted. Ceiling fans aren't that hard to install. It just takes patience. I put in a 220V dryer line last night. Now that's some scary shit to eff around with 220V. 110 will just give you a little tingle. 220 will burn the hair off your ass if you screw up.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | I used my new vac blower yesterday outside and it rocks - mulching is cool..... Actually, my next 2 purchases, besides plywood and drywall are a good miter saw and a sawzall. I am replacing 2 ceilings and a few walls (drywall only) but to take them off, re-frame some stuff-because the guy who sold the house to me prided himself on being a craftsman, and he did lots of nice stuff, but I am convinced he didnt own either a level or a sqaure. I also have to replace the steps going to the basement, and I think I have to get someone to do that for me, I am a bit clueless with that. I also cant wait to finish these ceilings because I plan on putting can lights up there, which will allow me to re-wire most of the house, all the zones are messed up. An outlet in the kitchen is also connected to the second bedroom and the basement lights. Argh. Too much to do, but I have lots of time.  IM me Or E-Mail Me | ||||

My main concern was the wiring, as long as it's color coded and the circuit breaker is off, I shouldn't screw it up too bad. And if all else fails, I'll get that new perm I've been wanting.. :) | ||||

I am trying not to, but sometimes when I get to checkout it seems to be way more than I thought it would be, but its okay. Also, my savings are totally depleted, but it'll grow back eventually. The most important thing is that you do it yourself, because it gives you a feeling of accomplishment, which cant be beaten. IM me Or E-Mail Me | ||||
