I'm trying to expand my families culinary horizons beyond steak and potatos, Shake-and-Bake- chicken with Stove Top Stuffing, and pizza.

So, what exotic and unusual foods do you like and do you know how to make them yourself?

I'm going to try to make enchiladas and tandori chicken (and no, not for the same meal).

When I'm sure I won't have to leave the house for a day or two, I like to go out for a good Mexican dinner.

I usually can't make it through coffee and dessert though. The refried beans go through me so fast, sometimes I need to bring a change of underwear...

My friends and I love to goof on these yuppie resturants where everything is either "balsamic", "chilean", "pan seared", "encrusted", etc... etc...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fun of exotic and gormet foods, I just like making fun of them.

Back on topic, on the fast food tip, I like mongolian round grills. You go up to a salad bar type deal and pick out your meats and veggies and such, pop em in a pan, pour the sauces of your taste and any other toppings and hand it off to the round grill chef to cook right there in front of you. Its damn good and you can have a different meal at the same place every day. I used to love to go to this one around the corner from my job when I used to work on Park and 42nd.

On the dinner tip, I love Frog & the Peach in New Brunswick. They have a kick ass menu there.

If i'm the one cooking, I like to make Cajun. That way if I burn it, I can just call it blackened. ;)

Brennan's in New Orleans had the greatest Eggs Benedict i've had in my life, and then imagine dessert at breakfast, Bannana's Foster from the place that invented it. Gotta love Naw'lins.

My personal favorite is a middle eastern meal called Dolma (spelling?). It is basically a cooked rice and meat combo stuffed into cooked peppers, zucchinnis, or tomatoes. I have no idea how to make it but a lot of my friend's mothers/wives/girlfriends serve it up now and then.

If you like fish, try sea bass, it is sooo easy to make just put it in the broiler, also salmon steaks are great, too.

There is this little cafe in Park Slope, Brooklyn that I go to and get blackened catfish. I've never tried to make it myself, but, thiers is grrreat.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE

If you want to learn how to cook, the best thing to do is look into your local community college. Sometimes they will offer cooking classes. It's usually not too expensive either. You can also check out the internet for recipies.

Half of my heritage is Armenian and I cook alot of Armenian/Middle Eastern type dishes. I make a lamb shishkabob, rice pilaf and stuffed grape leaves combo that kicks ass.

Also Thai foods. Thai is an interesting cuisine to cook. Plenty of prep work and timing of blending of ingredients. Thai is also an excellent natural aphrodesiac cuisine. Probably not your intent for the kids, but it might help mom make your day for you. :-)

So you must know how to make dolma. How about having me over for dinner sometime. Also, do you speak armenian at all?

I'll be over for dinner around 6:30ish...should I bring some wine? ;)

Although I don't know how to cook it, I love Middle Eastern food. I also love going to Chineese restaurants and trying the more traditional and less Americanized food. Actually...I think I just like food... ;)

I have lost most of my speaking skills having not used the language for many years, but I can understand enough to pick up on general conversation.

FMFB, you know all you have to do is bring your sweet self, and I will handle the music, wine and candles. ;-)
